Paulie Walnuts, KOF, f16harm, and a few others get it.

I have to wonder how much football the rest of you goofs actually watch every week. Shawn Merriman can't stay healthy, is a one dimensional player who doesn't even do his one dimension very well any more, hasn't played well in years, has PED failures in his past, and oh by the way, has been accused of slapping around women.

Why in the world would anyone want this guy on their team? One year contract for 500k to play on 3rd & 10? Maybe. Otherwise, why would you want him?

That doesn't matter, you can help people commit murder and be the Superbowl MVP the next year.

Doesnt mean you want him around your team. Just another mitigating factor.

I'm sure 99% of people polled would/would've wanted Ray Lewis on their team.

What's your point? Shawn Merriman stinks, Ray Lewis is a HOF'er.

His point is that you brought up the 'alleged' women-beating as a reason why you wouldn't want him on your team, when Ray Lewis has allegedly helped commit murder. It had no real bearing in the argument.

Anyway, I'm with you (W2B) and the other cats who say he's fallen too far off to be anything anymore. He was never great all-around, he was just a good pass-rusher, and now he's lost that. :ionno: As long as Oakland doesn't make the mistake of signing him (I wouldn't put it past them), then I don't really care. And I suppose Washington is as likely as anywhere else.

Merriman's off field is just icing on the cake. No reason to roll the dice on a guy who fails drug tests and beats women, when he hasnt played well in forever. Lewis had issues, but his play was never in question, which to some justifies the risk.

                A terrible argument by Cornelius

I wonder if any team will consider reteaching him how to play from a 3 point stance and use him as a situational edge rusher in a 4-3.

So it's basically been all but confirmed by local and national insiders that there is mutual interest between Merriman and the Ravens and that he'll be coming this way if/when he clears waivers.

Our pass rush is awful and Ozzie Newsome rarely makes a bad personnel move but I just don't know about this. :dontknow:

Around these parts, that's basically what we call a "typical Ravens fan." They believe they are going to get everyone, because everyone wants to come and play for such a storied franchise.

Although he is no where near his old form, who really thought Merriman was going to clear waivers, let alone make it past the first 5-8 teams on the waiver claim list???

P.S. I never heard one sports caster from a Baltimore news station, or a national media person, say he would be in Baltimore.

Didn't he have knee surgery? I kinda relate it to Usi from the giants. You gotta give it a year to recover, another year to be somewhat the player you was before the injury. (the knee one he had)

On the Ravens website it said if he cleared they'd pursue.

But Merriman wanted to play for the Ravens mainly because he is from the Baltimore area and wanted to end his career near home.

Good pick up by the Bills though, Got a feeling Merriman is gonna want to prove something.
