Agent: Vincent Jackson to sign tender

SAN DIEGO -- Vincent Jackson's agent says he's told the San Diego Chargers that the wide receiver will report next week and sign his contract tender.

By reporting Oct. 29, Jackson will be able to serve a three-game, team-imposed suspension on the roster exempt list, then play in the final six games to accrue his sixth season toward unrestricted free agency.

Jackson and his agent Neil Schwartz said earlier this fall that the receiver likely wouldn't play this year.

However, Schwartz says that with the current labor uncertainty, it would be best to accrue a sixth season and become an unrestricted free agent.

Jackson has refused to report because he's unhappy at not getting a long-term deal.

He'll play the final six games and still put up better numbers than Randy Moss. /Aso

I like his reasoning for signing the tender...he thinks it will be best to accure a sixth season so he can become an unrestricted FA.

Fuck him. If I were SD, i'd let him sit out. Sorry Vince, we have the top offense in the league. Don't need you, asswipe.

Yeah I picked him up in one of my leagues but I'm wondering if he's even worth holding onto cuz I don't know if San Diego will even start him.

              Nice one A.J. Smith

The Vikings were going to give you a 2nd, now your going to pay him 3 million dollars to sit on the bench for the final 6 games and than he'll leave for free.

Just because he is signing doesn't mean they are going to play him.

If it wasn't AJ Smith who often act like he's butthurt all the time I'd say of course the team is going to play him, because he's instantly the best WR and adds another weapon to the team instantly making them a better team. However, I can easily see Smith acting like a woman and trying to enact revenge at the detriment of the team.
