Week 7 thoughts *huh...what ?...wake me later* edition.

    * Mike Singletary is a an all time great player , a great soundbite , and perhaps avery good assistant coach. But he is a delusional Head Coach.
Now Im not saying his Xs and Os arent sound. But his methods seem to be completely hit or miss. Outside of a few players who continue to blossom I dont see this team progressing consider the talent they have.

    * Are mosh pit tackles ok ?
Does lifting players off the ground or carrying an airborne player out of bounds the way we should decide games ?
When I was 8 years old I remember asking my bro-in law why dont linebackers just pick guys up and hold them until someone else takes the ball. Evidently I was having premonitions of Ray Lewis in Week 7.
Nothing but Props for an all time great pulling off a ridiculous strip. But didnt that play look a little off to anyone else ?

    * There has never been a point that I can remember where NFL refs werent terrible. SNL has had no less than 5 skits since the 70s involving refs being dumb or blind. The leagues efforts have somehow made them worse.
Bottom line. NFL needs to get off its ass and implement full time refs. Had they done after the last CBA nearly the entire league would be full timers.
Week in and week out games are being decided by yellow and red flags. With this much parity the problem is magnified as its just too hard to overcome a penalty or a bad call late in the game.

*Fran Charles is kermit the frog. I no longer hear him...just Kermit the Frogs lightning news report NFL edition.

    * Im about to set a personal record for naps taken on sundays. Game after game I find myself snoozing.
    Is it scheduling ?
Should there be more 4 pm games ?
Is it because so many "marquee" games are stripped from the normal schedule and placed on SNF or MNF ??
It cant just be parity can it ?

*Steven Jackson the most under appreciated back the last few years. Guys a beast. Still totally jaded about Boys passing him up for Julius Jones. IMO just as costly as Elliss > Moss.

    * Is there anything in sports more automatic than a Brett Favre interception ?
Vikes coaching staff is pathetic. Im fairly sure the concept was Favre was to be a caretaker and only have to make the occasional big play as Peterson is the featured guy.
Still waiting for that plan to kick in. If Childress had a spine this would be a completely different team.

    FYI for those keeping track.
    Passes att leaders
    Brees 56
    Rivers 50
    Palmer 50
    Kolb 48
    All losses.
Best reason to have a license.

I can agree with the 4pm games, but the 1 o'clock slate yesterday had to be the best one all year when it comes to intense action packed games. I think someone said in the CB that towards the end of the 3rd quarter, every game but 1 was a one score game, the other being the Saints who were being upset by the Browns. You had the Bengals comeback, the Steelers TD/fumble, Titans coming back by 9 and scoring 27 points in the 4th quarter, almost the upset of the year by the Bills, who even drove down on the Ravens to tie it up in the final minutes, Panthers comeback and the second coming of Jesus Josh Freeman leading his team to a last second victory.

I'm sorry but that was some exciting fast paced can't miss football. Is it the best played football? No, it can be argue that the quality of football is at the worst in years. But it was fun, must have Directv/Redzone Channel football.

What kind of hurts the 4ET games are the fact that the NFC West and AFC West usually are featured in these games due to where they are regionally. The fact both divisions are far from stellar, the games tend to suffer.

Because noone establishes the run. Like you said its throwing darts.

How else can you turn the ball over 5 times and win..turnover 6 out of 7 possessions and still be within a FG ?

FYI as said repeatedly NFL set a record for points scored.
I doubt anyone can look back and say wow what an exciting well played weekend. The shit teams get away with is ridiculous.

the non challenge of the packer TD, and the non use of timeouts before the half were fucking mind blowing. werent they on like the 20 yard line or something? they should have got some points out of that drive. Childress is SO BAD as a head coach. McCarthy is no genius either, the challenge of the Shianco catch blew my mind, and my mind was blown even more by the overturning. just a poorly called and poorly played game. and fuck four inch favres fake injuries. he only limps when he is sucking.

with all that said, i was still the loudest guy for miles when the game ended. all i wanted was one win against favre, and it came, even though it probably wasnt deserved. by the time they play again, favre will be "injured" im sure... this was the game that mattered in the 2 they will play this year.

yea i dont udnerstand how the refs allowed ray lewis to strip that ball. tht looked so blatant it was crazy. Bills got screwed there IMO.

ALso they need to implement somethign where a play goes all the way thru for cases like the Big Ben fumble. Tht sht was also retarded.

Also I dont understand why the Rams throw so much sometimes, especially on short GL situations. They will run Sjax all the way down to the 5 then throw the ball over and over again. It reminds me of the movie friday night lights.

I've never seen a week with so many terrible INT's thrown.

                        Cutler threw 4 awful picks.

Favre tossed one directly into someone's chest.

Brees threw two passes directly to the same DL.

Matt Moore threw what amounted to a handoff to a 49er DL.

My running theme for 2010, the league is filled with bad QB play. Yet teams insist on throwing 40+ times. I'm all for wide open offenses, I hate 3-yard-cloud-of-dust football, but not when these QB's are so bad. It's counter productive.

                          That's a misleading stat IMO.
Of course losing QBs are going to have more pass attempts ... they're playing from behind.
I'm surprised Brees didn't have 70 pass attempts.

The idea that you win with the run died years ago.

had another one that hit Tramon Williams in the face, early in the game when it was still tied, that should have been a pick 6. instead, the vikings marched down the field and scored.
