I do believe 3 losses is the most an East champion has had, but I'm just guessing. I know LSU won the SEC in 2001 with a 5-3 conf. record. They were the patsies from the West that Tennessee was supposed to beat on the way to the Nat'l Championship.

South Carolina is no patsy, they have a great shot at beating Auburn.
