Jeff Fisher needs to be fired, right now.

Barely over .500 for his career.
Outcoached in all four losses this season.
Doesn't know how to use a Hall of Fame receiver.
And now the latest actions with Vince Young.

Before I start, let me say that I'm obviously a VY supporter and think he can be a solid quarterback in this league. He's shown flashes throughout his career that he can be. But Vince doesn't have the support from his head coach and hasn't had it throughout his career.

The suicide situation a few years ago was inexcusable, but this latest incident, although it went a little too far, is fine in my eyes...because of the hatred Fisher has for Young.

After Young injured his thumb, he went to get it looked at and then came back to the sidelines to try and go back in there. However, despite Young wanting to go back in there, Fisher kept him out and left a sixth-round quarterback named Rusty out on the field. Yes...Rusty.

Young reportedly threw his shoulderpads into the stands and then quickly got dressed and left. I can't excuse his action because someone could have gotten hurt and you have to be a little more mature about this, but I can completely understand his frustration. I mean, he's saved Fisher's job twice!

I bet that a good bit of you will side with Fisher on this one, but this is more on him than it is Young. If the front office draft a QB in the first, I'll be alright, because Young has been very injury prone and despite being a fan of him, I don't know if he can be the franchise guy because of him being injury prone. But Fisher better be gone after this year...he's had far too many chances and it's time for a damn change.

Let's not forget the whole McNair incident that had him locked out of team facilities the year he was traded and the verbal confrontation with Billy Volek that led to 2006's 0-3 start, which made Vince come in earlier than they wanted.

Fisher does this shit all the time, but no one notices because "oh my God, he's gotta be a great coach because he's been in the league for 16 years!"

I really don't get why Fisher has such a great reputation. In 16 years, he's really only had 2 or 3 teams that made serious noise, and that includes the SB team that needed a gimmick play to escape the WC round.

Woy makes some good points in the OP. He's essentially a .500 HC. He's severly overated.

You forgot to mention he needed that gimmick play to beat a team QB'd by Rob Johnson....

                  GROAN.

                  ***Long Titans History Post***

Being a Titans fan for 13 years now, and Fisher coaching all of them, Fisher is not the problem.

Vince Young is, and the entire offensive direction.

The Titans saw their best success when Steve McNair and Eddie George dominated the ground, and maybe a couple of short passes to Frank Wycheck here and there. Strong defense, alright special teams, and a game managing QB with a strong pounding run attack is how they succeed.

Ever since 2003 when they were a top 6 AFC team at the time and started to unleash McNair and have him throw for 4000 yards a game, with George getting injured all the time is when the program started downhill. AKA when they hired Mike Heimerdinger. Another story for later.

Then they went thru a rebuild thing for a couple of years and got VY and he got a sub par team to 8-8 and everyone thought we have something now. But even then Travis Henry was dominating the ground and had 1200 yards. VY made some special plays but the fundamentals of the offense was run first, run second, pass if necessary.

But people saw the success and noticed VY as a "winner". They go 10-6 despite Vince throwing 9 TDs and 17 INTs. Again a solid rushing game and some special plays made them 10-6 in 2007. This was his second season and all he does is win, lets get him confidence because he can lead this team, right?

                  Wrong.

Then in 2008 VY is out first game and Collins takes over. CJ is now on the team and they go 13-3 on a solid rushing game from CJ and White and Collins just managing the game. We went back to what Fisher succeeds under. A tough pounding run only football team and a QB who can make a smart and special play when needed.

But then in 2009 they go 0-6, Collins gets benched, and VY leads the team to an 8-8 record. CJ runs for 2000 yards. And people think we have something big on offense. But who did they beat? Teams like Jags, 49ers, Bills, Rams, Dolphins, Seahawks, blah. Again VY is viewed like a winner but really he just played over his head against weak competition.

So they come out this year, CJ struggles early and they try to give VY the ropes. They have WRs and even get Moss, which I knew would be bad for the team. They try to beat teams through the air which they can not do, and are not designed to do. They aren't built or coached like that kind of team. They have a HUGE identity crisis when VY is the QB. Instead of doing what they do best, they try to be something else. Its history repeating itself. They have good success and try to really capitalize on it and flop. Then we rebuild in a couple years.

VY should not be the QB of this team. The sooner the Titans realize that and get a game manager to complete some odd 3rd and 6s, they won't succeed.

Fisher's only problem is the fans like you and the management are trying to make the team something it is not. To my knowledge Rusty Smith is more capable of running this offense better than VY as long as Fisher keeps him on a leash. Get CJ and Ringer 35+ carries a game. Let Moss cry on the sideline because you throw 12 times a game and call it a day.

Fisher is a great coach at what he does. Once the team starts to be something it isn't, they have problems.

I understand that Young was angry but throwing his pads into the stands is not a way for a starting QB to act. This kid has had to many incidents in the past to be doing stuff like this.
