Why are people so obsessed with seeing Paterno retire? He's a fucking icon, he has earned the right to call his own shots. I hope he coaches until he drops dead on the fucking sideline. Good for him. -
Why do people keep saying it's time for him to go? He's been to two BCS bowls in the last 5 seasons. He's shared the Big 10 title twice in the last 5 years. He's 4-1 in Bowl games over that span.
In the last 5+ seasons he is 57-16, 32-13 in the Big 10 as well. He's had what?....Six bad(sub .500) seasons in the last 44 years.Comment

I don't want the same thing to happen to Joe Pa that happened to Bowden at Florida State. He's an icon and possibly the greatest football coach of all time, and I want him to leave on his own terms, not be "forced" out by the school.

Bowden was forced out by the school in part because the team was doing bad and was having off the field/classroom issues. Neither of which is an issue here. Apples meet oranges.Comment

If Penn State loses to MSU and falls to 7-5 and struggles a little bit next year, he might be forced out, because for Penn State 7-5 is pretty shitty.

I wish i could thank this post a million times. Maybe its cause Packersfan is so young he doesn't really understand that before Joe there was no Penn State football. He is The Nittany Lions and he should coach until he can't anymore. As in him 6 feet underground.

It's time for JoePa to go when JoePa god damned says it's time, got it?Comment

All I know is the fans are waiting impatiently when JoePa retires. They've hinted at how poor recruiting has been, how the OLine isn't playing as well...even to the strength and conditioning program (PSU always has someoen blowing out their knee).
I say let him retire when he's ready...Originally posted by Nick MangoldWes Welker is a great player. He's really taken advantage of watching film. If we don't keep a Spy on him, he could really open the Gate.Comment

7-5 is freakin cake when you consider the start of the year they had and the bizarre action thinking that starting a true freshman was a good idea...?
this season is much much better than it looked like it would be and next year will be that much better...and they better be better next year because they play Nebraska and I want a win for Penn State in that game !Comment

The fact is when Jopa leaves it will trully be the end of an era. He is the last connection to early college football and football in general.
any admin would be a fool to think he should have the power to think its his decision to tell Jopa he needs to go.
Jopa has donated a great deal of his money to the betterment of the school as well.
There may never be anyone like him and Bobby B in the future.
we have selfish idiots like Saban to look forward to, who cant even show joy when they win a national championship. Did you see the angry look on his face when he got a Gatorade shower last year? it was pathetic.Comment
