That's not the way it works, everybody can pick the same players if they want. You get bonus points for each week your player advances, so if you pick some good players in the wildcard round and they advance to the divisional round you get 2X their points while a player that had a bye in the wildcard round would only get their actual points.

You could destroy the field if you successfully pick a wildcard team that goes on to the Super Bowl, whether the teams wins or not because you would get 4X the points for their production in the game.
