Terrible news all around as a PSU fan as Edsall leaves to Maryland and now this.

I don't understand how Bolden gets hurt against Minnesota after going 16-18 or some shit, then when he's back and healthy, they stick with McGloin. Sure he had some good games against shit defenses, but you can't get your future onto the field? He looked like an experienced vet at times in Tuscaloosa and Iowa City, with the most poise I've seen from a PSU quarterback since M-Rob. The stats weren't there, but he had zero help around him. McGloin was fucking horrible against Florida and a change back to Bolden at QB could have provided a spark like it did against Northwestern and Michigan.

That being said, I still think we can have a very good season next year if we can get consistent play from the QB position. Tough task for sure, but I liked Paul Jones coming into the season more than Bolden and a second year running through spring and fall ball will help him out. The receiver corps are back, Silas Redd will get the majority of the carries, and the defense was trotting out second and third-stringers after the Iowa game.

JoePa will end up starting McGloin though...I shouldn't even try to talk myself out of that.

Yeah, it's unfathomable that Bolden never got to play again. I mean it's not like he had a redshirt to preserve, right?

Paterno says he "regrets not playing him more" ... MF'er you are the head coach ... Play who the fuck you want. It's questionable at best to sit a kid who's already burned his shirt behind a walk on like McGloin-cloth.

Paterno probably didn't know Bolden traveled to Tampa. When asked about Kevin Newsome at halftime of the Minnesota game, he replied, "Who?"

Another case of a stubborn old coach unintentionally sinking the ship. Paterno's a copycat, we all know Bowden did it first.

Stupid move by Paterno. It's not going to get Bolden to want to stay and it only builds resentment from Bolden. When kids want to transfer let them go.

Now, if Paterno is worried about Bolden going to someone close and/or a rival, put restrictions on his release similar to Robert Marve when he left Miami.

I think under normal circumstances, yes...but it seems to be a power struggle between his pops and PSU IMO...Bolden was upset but it seems like he may want to stay...his moms agree...

I think JP is trying to protect the kid...for one if he releases him now, he will in essence lose two years of eligibilty.

He will lose a year because he didn't complete a year from the LOI.

Then he will have to sit out a year if he transfers to another school...in essence Bolden will just have two years left of football in college if he releases him now.

You tell him to wait at least to spring practice, bring ya A game and if he still wants to transfer, he can go ahead, but by then, he would have completed that 1st year and will just have to sit out the mandatory year...and still have 3 years of eligibilty left of football.
