If I am a billionaire owner, and it's my team paid for with my money.....I'm going to hire whoever the fuck I want.

and that's the reality, and that's how it is always going to stay.

Fuck the Rooney rule. I couldn't be happier that Jerrah is making a mockery of a rule which is in and of itself a mockery of the hiring process.

If an owner wants to hire a minority, he'll hire a minority. Simple as that. This is 2011, not 1965.

The Rooney Rule doesn't say that you must hire a minority.....just interview a qualified one.

No way, get out of here with that crazy talk.

Like I was saying, I'll hire (meaning interview, question, look at, smell, touch in the no-no area) anyone I fucking want when it's my team and I shelled out the $100 million and control the balanced sheet and interview process. When the league is paying part of my franchise fee, cutting my checks, then they can tell me to interview Mickey Mouse while he's fucking Goofy in the ass if they so choose.

The league controls the disbursement of your TV revenues and as part of becoming an owner you signed documents making yourself subject to the rulings of the league office so you might want to get Mickey on the phone and tell Goofy to buy lots of lube.

You better run that past your minority part owners in Gloria Estefan, Emilio Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams.

So, what you tryin' to say?
Minority money is good enough, but not a minority coach?11?1?

and thats fine if you dont have a clear choice for who u wish to hire. But SF knows they want harbaugh. if harbaugh wants to coach there then SF should not have to go through the motions of interviewing someone just to follow a rule. Why would they talk to a minority coach when they know harbaugh is their guy?

Do you have any idea how much stake those jokers actually own? I think it's less than 5% combined for all of them. They are simply paid entertainers to come put there face on Miami events/games. They have no say in football related decisions...and furthermore, from a business standpoint, they really have no say at all if Ross wants to do something, because he has the majority. All he has to do is make sure they get their appropriate monetary payouts equivalent to their share holdings

                        P.S. And you forgot Fergie.
P.S.S. Why did you relate this to Miami's organizational structure, my replies were based on if I were owning a team and how most owners probably view the process.

They actually are obligated to interview two minorities since the guy they fired was one.

Amen to that. Look at the Cowboys, interviewing their black WR coach for the Rooney Rule. It's obvious he's not getting the job, but not because of race. He was a fucking WR coach. It makes a joke out of the process and, in my opinion, out of anyone who gets interviewed because of it.

The Cowboys can't hire Garrett straight from being an interim head coach, but the Vikings can hire Frazier straight from being an interim head coach. If you really wanted to, you could call that racism.

Even if a team knows who they want there is a time with SF and every team looking for a new coach when they go through the evaluation process....that is the time the RR is supposed to kick in. The RR is based on ideals.....the ideal that teams bring in mutiple candidates...and hire someone; however, we all know that doesn't always happen, so the rule obviously has its flaws. However, its important to remember the RR has less to do with the teams and more to do with creating more opportunity for minority candidates.
