IMO... even before Luck decided to stay at school Bowers was the Panthers pick. Julius Peppers 2.0. Unfortunately no d-lineman are the right size or fit for the 3-4 that can be selected in the top 5. Bowers is about 275 and Fairley is just under 300. Not sure Fairley would do too great being a NT, and 3-4 DE would almost be a waste of the number 1 pick. If the Panthers re-sign their LB's then they will def have the personnel on the second level for the 3-4.
I'm not a fan of Bowers. So much talent, but he's got a lot of bad tape too. He had a great year this year, but he dissapeared for too many stretches. Especially considering the emergence of Charles Johnson this year.
If Rivera runs the 3-4, then I think the pick is going to be A.J. Green. Would be a good pick IMO, gives Jimmy Clausen another quality target to throw at and also down the line should we draft a QB next year, gives him the same. Green is going to be one of the best WR's in the league in a couple of years regardless of where he ends up, IMO.Comment

The Panthers brass came out and said if Luck was leaving early he would be the #1 pick.

He said he's staying with 4-3... I like where this is going, because I would of hated for guys like Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy and Everette Brown to get lost in a transition. That being said... it's a complete toss up on the #1 ovr pick. I would jerk off with sandpaper on youtube if the Panthers drafted AJ Green, but if it's 4-3... Fairley prob gets the nod IMO. A trade down would be ideal for the organization because I think they want to get Patrick Peterson or AJ Green and address interior D-line in free agency. An incredibly young team needs some veteran leadership on defense.Gamble + Peterson would be so fucking tacular

The one big question tho is... with Nmandi and Champ Bailey both hitting the open market does Peterson's stock fall? Well not stock but surely there will be at least two teams that prob won't give him the nod... doubt any of the top 10 pick teams would land either tho... Asomugha is somebody Rivera would prob give his left nut for, playing an aggressive press defense with him and Gamble would make Rivera look like Bill Belicheck... if only the offense can get up to at least average there could be a somewhat quick turnaround.Comment
