Eagles likely to make a play for Asomugha?

According to CSN Philly's Reuben Frank, free agent Nnamdi Asomugha is "at the top of the Eagles' offseason priority list."

Frank is a very reliable beat writer, but he appears to be deducing here rather than reporting. Asomugha is adamant about playing for a contender, and the Eagles have a major need opposite Asante Samuel as well as money to spend on a top tier recruit. As far as fits go, Asomugha would be an instant secondary fix for a team that is expected to contend for the Super Bowl next year.

WTF?! I really fucking hate Philly teams. First Cliff Lee and now Nnamdi... fuck Philadelphia.

      Don't buy into it Leftwich.

Almost every fucking team has him at the top of the priority list. You don't think the Ravens are saying the same thing? Corner has been the only downfall of the team out in Baltimore all season.

I'm a big fan of Aso, I'd be pissed if he landed in Philly or Bmore.

Well the funny thing was... before the trade deadline earlier this year. Baltimore was shopping Jared Gaither and there were lots of talks via Media that Nhamdi was almost traded to us, due to the fact that his contract was almost up and the Raiders wanted to get something out of him.

So like I said, don't be surprised if the Ravens persue him. Because we had to settle for Josh Wilson.

They intend to franchise Vick and then go after Asomugha and give him a mega contract?

Without Vick, they're just a solid team. Shouldn't they want to keep him happy?

Kevin Kolbs contract goes from 10 million to 1 million this year, so they have the money to franchise tag Vick plus have plenty to spend on a big name free agent.
All 32 NFL teams can find a reason to love Nnamdi Asomugha. However, the Eagles purged nine veterans with significant contracts this past offseason, and may be in the best to position to overpay him.
