I'm pretty sure most Division 1 schools don't even turn a profit on athletics so they wouldn't be able to afford to pay them.

We've had this discussion and with more light being shined on it, schools are actually not turning as big of a profit as we thought. One of the big reasons is needing the money sports to support the non-money making sports.

Either way, I use to be in the pay them camp, but I've actually switched and I'm in the "let them get whatever benefits they want" camp. My thought is, if some booster wants to give you a car, or a fake job, a house or pay for a tat... who gives a shit?

They are still making a large profit its just that they are using that money to help pay for other sports.

Yeah but the question isn't if the football team making a lot of money. It's about schools. It all goes to a bottom line through the Athletic Department and when it's all said and done there's no chance athletic departments make enough to sustain the payment of players.

I can live with that too.
If you need the boosters to pay em, so be it.

No they don't. You continue to show your ignorance of how college athletics work. Very few schools turn a profit, and the number is nowhere near 100. However I am also of the belief that the athletes should be paid an hourly wage up to 20 hours per week.
