Deadspin claims it has proof of Sanchez w/ 17 year old

Really comes across as more of a tease about a Sanchez story coming up this Tuesday. Supposedly a 17 year old girl sent them pics from her blackberry of Sanchez's bedroom the night she stayed there as proof of the affair. The girl in question then claimed there was no affair, then came back and said there was, now is claiming no affair again and had her lawyers send them a threatening letter (which Deadspin has republished on their site)


Story to be published this Tuesday. Claims they have notified the Jets and that they are working on a statement.

We won't publish this young lady's full name, but if the photos she sent to us from her Blackberry of Mark Sanchez's bedroom — supposedly taken on her cell phone after she spent the night with him a few weeks ago — were not sent by her, then there's more to this than previously suspected.

Under New York and New Jersey law, statutory rape laws apply only when one party to an otherwise consenting relationship is under the age of 17. So if the girl was 17, the law shouldn’t care, the Jets shouldn’t care, and the NFL shouldn’t care. Whether the rest of us should or shouldn’t care is a matter of personal preference, but we have a feeling that most of the e-mails we’ve received pointing out to us the Deadspin report were prompted by folks who have assumed incorrectly that Sanchez now faces potential jail time, if the allegations are true.
