As crazy as it sounds...
I wonder if John Elway subconsciously worries about Tebow becoming another Broncos' QB legend and is doing everything he can to throw him under the bus before that happens.
Maybe I'm insane (ok, not maybe) ... but there's something awfully fishy about this. I can understand Fox naming Orton his #1 QB in February if Orton were a proven QB with many years in Denver, but he's not.
I have zero issue with Orton being #1 on the depth chart, he's the veteran. But Orton does not have the seniority or accomplishments to be a lock in February. Like most players, he has to earn his job.
This is just strange.
If I were the Buffalo Bills, I'd immediately call Denver and offer the 2nd and 6th round picks to Elway for Tim Tebow.
OK, Tebow doesn't have the typical NFL skillset at QB, but the guy has something special ... sorry, hate to say it, but the "it" factor. And he won't be a character question the way Cam Newton might be (sorry, but saying you want to be an entertainment icon makes me wonder). I know Rayman, I'm a fucking racist, I burn black guys on a cross in my backyard.
But if I'm investing heavily in a quarterback, I want impeccable character traits.
The Bills are my AFC team and I truly wanted them to take Newton ... then I heard about that interview and immediately changed my mind. The Bills should immediately call Denver.
And Orton won't be traded, at least not this season, no one knows what the hell to expect from Tebow.. yeah running for a TD on a broken play against the Raiders and being the 60th QB to throw for 300 yards on the Texans D in 2010 is nice and all.. but a new regime = veterans get first crack at the starting spots until they are beat out in preseason/training camp.Originally posted by ram29jacksonI already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SBComment

I'm not much for Dave's theory, but you see new head coaches come in all the time with absolutely no loyalty to the previous regime's early round picks. A trade of Tebow is unlikely, but interesting at the same time... If you are in need of a QB it wouldn't hurt to ask?Comment

Oh and LOL at Denver trading Tim Tebow.
For the love of god this kind of thing happens ALL the time when there are new head coaches. Veteran coaches especially. They prefer an experienced QB to man the ship at first because there is less of a learning curve for a guy that's been there before.
It's not a slight against Tebow by any stretch, I'm sure if there is a training camp and preseason this year he will have his shot to unseat Orton.. and if he doesn't, oh well? Go with the guy that gives you the best shot to win.
Neither guy will be moved though unless some team offers something ridiculously stupid for either guy.Originally posted by ram29jacksonI already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SBComment

QBs are like cars they never appreciate. The day you drive them off the lot they lose X amount in value, lol.
As far as Fox goes, I personaly think its all smoke and mirrors. They are going to start who ever plays the best in camp, even if its Brady Quinn. They want to keep Ortons confidence and his trade value up.Comment

If anything, Orton's trade value could go down if he starts and looks like shit. If a team wants Orton, they already have a line drawn in the sand to what they'd offer for him.. and judging by other moves for QB's.. Orton wouldn't be worth much at all.Originally posted by ram29jacksonI already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SBComment

This is a rebuilding team with a roster in complete flux and weird as it may seem there are probably only two people in the Broncos organization who garner any kind of respect from Broncos fans. And those two people are of course John Elway and surprisingly Tim Tebow.
This is not the way to conduct yourself as the coach of a team amidst the current state of the NFL. John Fox has to be smarter than to make statements like this before the Draft has even happened if we are to have any kind of faith in him as a fan base. To me it's just becoming more and more clear that Denver missed out on every head coach that they tried to bring in this off-season and had to settle.
It's not a good time to be a Broncos fan.
Huh? No. Not at all. His trade value is already set. Whether or not he starts is irrelevant. It's not like a GM is suddenly going to up their offer because he's #1 on the depth chart in March.
