If Matt Cassel, a guy whose last meaningul starting experience came in high school, can spend one season replacing Brady and then got rolled into such a huge trade package and a far contract, Mallet who has some real pedigree and is there when Brady is 34 and has already suffered his first huge injury. I'd say Mallet will be just fine

Jokes aside I can deal with why NE drafted Mallett. There's a new rule now, I call it the Aaron Rodgers Rule, where if a QB is concussed in a game, he is REQUIRED to miss the next week's game if he fails the test. So at this point, you want to make sure you have a QB behind your starting QB who is good enough to manage the game atleast. I am betting thats what Belichek was thinking.

When Rodgers went out, Flynn almost stole a game. It's nice to have a QB in the wings that can be a good backup for a week or so. Cassel is an anomaly. I kinda wish Philly had drafted a decent QB, because we are gonna get rid of Kolb. When Vick goes down this season, we are fucked.
