-Transferred to Cincinnati(ironically enough) 14 days after the ND-GaTech season opener, after he attended classes at NIU in Dekalb for a week.
-Sat out 2007 because of the transfer and recovering from surgery for a torn labrum.
-Saw almost no action in 2008 as a QB for Brian Kelly
-Made a position change to linebacker to linebacker before 2009.
-After Kelly left for Notre Dame Jones transferred again to Central State in Ohio, a D-II school. Played WR for them last season.
-Applied for another year of eligibility and I don't believe got it.Comment

Very true. And even when Kelly talked about making the choice he brought up how close it was and how they looked at everything possible and that it was still almost dead even. Crist not playing well, and not showing much in the first half I think was a huge sign to Kelly that while Crist may have the most talent Rees might be the better game QB and gave him a shot.
From what I've seen and heard the leadership stuff with Crist isn't a huge advantage for him as Rees really won over the lockerroom last season and is a great leader himself.
The shocking thing to me was Crist being bumped behind Golson during the game against USF.
I believe it was the players. Clausen wasn't healthy enough for long enough to win the job away from Jones but in the two weeks leading up to the game Clausen started to heal a bit an making strides in practice...even still Clausen was the 3rd ND QB to take snaps against Tech in that opener. I still remember ND trying to run the read option with Jones.
Yikes.
Watch it. I'm a mod here. Further incorrect multi-quoting will result in forum discipline, up to and including banishment.Comment

You can take it as a lack of confidence in his original choice, or realizing that he was wrong and not being too stubborn to change his mind. :ionno:[REDACTED]Comment

They are pretty much like a minor league football team with how Saban handles his 85.
Imagine how good the rest of the country would be if they could simply tell all of their non-contributing upperclassmen that their scholarships won't be renewed, and replace them with 25 top of the line freshman.Comment
