I remember when I use to buy a bunch of college football magazines. I did it mostly for NCAA Football to name my draft classes, but I also enjoyed reading them...over and over again. However, I haven't bought one in probably 5 years now.

Caught Athlon's SEC Edition.
Same ol', same ol' but the opinion piece on NCAA inconsistancy with punishing athletes, coaches and universities was interesting. -
Just picked up Athlon's BIG 10 preview.
Still waiting for Phil Steele's, though.

I think I have every Phil Steele from like 03 to 08 before I kinda stopped caring about college football. That shit was like reading an encyclopedia.Comment

yea I'm going out to the store soon to see what my store has. It is something nice to read during the off season and until NCAA 12 comes."It's the revenge of the dicks that's nine cocks that cock nines"Comment

Did the same thing. I remember one year buying every one of Athlons off the net, so I could name my rosters (before OS.com).Comment

I think I've read every phil steele since '07. I read the whole thing for the Big 10 and the MAC. Most of the SEC and the service academies. Then I'll read all of Michigan's opponents. I usually end up reading the last column/summary for each team by the end of the season.Comment

I like Phil Steele, the problem is, you can cut out 70% of the volume of the magazine if you just cut out the same shit he writes from year-to-year which is how awesome his predictions were over the years and the too wordy and numbery history on each team. Just too much shit I don't want to filter through while I'm reading it on a treadmill. Its a good mag, just way too much unnecessary shit.Comment

I am a loyal Phil Steele reader, have bought his preview for the last five years, but I agree with Larry. He spends 50 or so pages congratulating himself on every prediction he's ever made ("Ohio State was my #8 sleeper in 2002!" "I was the only magazine who predicted LSU to win the SEC in 2003!").
Still a must have for any college football junkie though.Comment
