Do you think Ohio St would have sold one less ticket if Pryor was deemed bad news and ended up somewhere else?Comment

I can see the payout amount being a recruiting tool used by many. Hey, South Carolina pays $300 a game, but if you come and play for me I'll offer you $400!" Much like the #1 pick in the NFL every year the next year’s recruit will want more than last years. Before you know it athletes will be making thousands. Also, how do you distinguish who should get more? Is Terrelle Pryor worth more than the random OL? Would Matt Lineart have been worth more than Reggie Bush based on psstitional value? If everythingis based on memorabilia value than I'd say he is, but by how much?Comment

That works until athletes bring their lawyers (agents) and negotiate for more money, because they feel their brand is greater than their teammates. It would start off as a goodwill gesture by the coaches and when it becomes a full fledge money grab by the players the coaches will want the school to pay for it.

The NCAA can't have it both ways. They can't say "we can't even consider giving the players money, because it would lead to uncontrolled corruption", and at the same time turn a blind eye to the uncontrolled corruption that already exists.
I don't see how giving football/bball players money will increase/decrease corruption. As it stands, the NCAA is operating under prohibition-era laws.Comment

But that can happen anyway. Hey, South Carolina pays $0 a game, but if you come and play for me I'll offer you $100!

To me, its already the wild west, so opening things up changes nothing, aside from throwing in the towel and giving up.
Rules, and laws, with real teeth would incite change.Comment

I could only identify 8. I knew none of the linemen. Doug DuBose is #22, Testaverde is #14, Jimmy Johnson is one of the coaches, Bosworth and Rod Woodson are sitting next to each other, Cris Carter, Lorenzo White, and Roger Vick are in the front row.Comment
