Eh nothing I guess. Turns out Ware doesn't have a DPOY as awarded by AP. I was looking at some other half-assed group that gives out the award every year. Either way, Shayn is still being a raging Steelers homer like always, and this is possibly the stupidest list of power rankings ever created so it's pointless to debate much in the first place. Oh well ... carry on.
I say this because for the most part, on this site anyhow, there is so much contempt and hate for everything Steelers. This is important to read before I continue, so I'll bold it.
I really don't know how to say it without sounding like a homer. If I were an Oakland Raiders fan I'd still argue that Troy is the best defensive player in the league. I'm not taking anything away from Ware, who I've recently defended as the best outside linebacker in the game (Yes even better than James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley. I know, shocking.)
I've seen two people now on this forum in the last two months, try pass off one player or another as a DPOY trophy winner (Senser&NAHSTE) when they weren't, in an attempt to devalue a Steeler player. In both arguments, a Steeler beat out said player. Harrison beat Ware for DPOY in '08, Troy beat Mathews last year. Simply stating facts doesn't make me a homer.
A raging homer spreads fiction not fact. A raging homer will disregard everything else and overvalue his own players. I don't do that. You won't see me argue for Big Ben on this list. A top 10 QB list, yes I'll argue him there, but no he's not one of the top 10 players in the NFL. Then again I also don't think there should be so many QB's on this list. More Defense!!!
If I was going to argue any defensive player to put on this list it would be Patrick Willis, who IMO is the best linebacker in the league without a doubt. Or Revis who's the best CB in the league. Ware should be on the list also.
Troy on the other hand, IMO he's the best defensive player alive, hands down. Troy has been in the race to win DPOY three times now, and finally won it this year. Him owning the DPOY trophy should tell you he's the best defensive player in the NFL right now. He's just so dominating. The Steelers had one of the best defenses in NFL history last season, and it's been proven that without Troy the Steelers defense goes from Historical to average. Not just from great to average, I mean historical. I'm talking about a defense that for years go come will be touted and discussed as a top 10 or better defense of all time, and without Troy, well our defense just isn't nearly as good.sigpicComment

If I recall correctly, the context when I mistakenly said that Clay Matthews won the DPOY last year was in direct response to your question of how can anyone rank Clay Matthews above James Harrison? It had initially been reported that Clay Matthews was the DPOY, and then it actually went to Polamalu. But since Polamalu wasn't actually a point of the discussion, I fail to see how my erroneous comment was an attempt to devalue Harrison. Harrison didn't win the DPOY last year, either.
The fact that you are continuing this ridiculous stretch of logic unfailingly shows your homerism. It would be like comparing Bart Starr to Steve Young, saying that Starr won 3 Super Bowl MVPs to Young's 1, and then a Niner homer says that you are devaluing Young because Starr won 2 Super Bowl MVPs to Joe Montana's 3. BEG PARDON???Comment

It's interesting to see the difference between who the writers think are the top 10, and who the players think are the top 10. Players seem to spread the love around more. Writers all over QB's jocks.
Personally i tend to think the guys who are actually on the field playing against these dudes have a better feel than the guys sitting in a booth, or in front of a tv just watching them.Comment

I agree that there is alot of Steeler hate on the site, and I will say that Troy is definitely the best Defensive player in football. Also, Big Ben is a top 5 QB, not top 10 overall player and Demarcus Ware is better as a pass rusher than Harrison, but not better overall linebackerComment

Troy Polamalu should've have DPOY. The trophies and awards given out at the end of the year are beginning to mean less and less and they didn't mean much in the first place. It's all worthless.
Troy is NOT the best defensive player in football, definitely not.Comment

I love threads like these where you'll have multiple people saying one guy is the best something or other in football, just to have someone else come in and say the equivalent of a big "NUH UH!!!"
Neither offer any evidence to their claims, neither likely has anything evidence, and most (all?) of the time a person is doing that, said person often has zero credibility anyway.Comment
