Report: Eagles interested in Brett Favre

Posted by Mike Florio on July 23, 2011, 11:09 PM EDT

    Ugh.

    Let me repeat that.

    Ugh.

Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philly reports that the Eagles could sign quarterback Brett Favre as a backup to Mike Vick, after Kevin Kolb is shipped out of town.

Sources told Eskin, who serves as a sideline reporter for the team’s radio broadcasts, that it’s “possible” the Eagles will sign Favre.

The move would reunite Favre with Andy Reid, who was an assistant with the Packers before becoming a head coach in 1999.

There was a rumor making the rounds last week that Favre had approached the Seahawks about possibly becoming the successor to Matt Hasselbeck, a move that makes sense given the arrival of former Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell as offensive coordinator. The Seahawks supposedly declined. (The Seahawks privately are denying that any of this happened.)

In Philly, Favre would be the safety valve in the event Mike Vick gets injured or regresses. A master of the West Coast offense, Favre would provide a major upgrade over Mike Kakfa. Plus, it would give Favre another chance to ride off into the sunset with a Lombardi Trophy in his pocket, even if he has to pry it from Mike Vick’s hands.

You KNOW if this happens, Vick will go down before the Eagles play on MNF and ESPN will go all about LORD AND SAVIOR BRETT FAVRE returning to the sport he so dearly loves.

      A) Favre leads an injured Eagles team against the Chicago Bears and WINS

      or

      B) Favre starts for the Eagles against the Bears but doesn't make it out of the first quarter thanks to Julius Peppers and co.

If this goes down, Sal Palintonio will become the Ed Werder #2.

MFer has land in Philly judging from all the times I've seen him reporting from there on ESPN.

BB's avatar next to the story pretty much speaks what I think about this.

Prior to joining ESPN, he was a political reporter and Philadelphia Eagles beat reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer from 1993-1995. I think these idiots make up half of this shit. I don't see Favre making any comeback this year UNLESS a starting QB on a team with a legitimate shot at a Super Bowl ring goes down during the regular season.
