A common desire amongst fans. He was such a beast but clearly his past with cancer must be scaring some teams from signing him....(or drafting in this case.)

I'd love him on the Jets as well....
Every team wants Herzlich because of his story.
He can still play, no one really knows how well in regards to the NFL level. He is clearly a shell of his former self, but his former self was the best linebacker in college football. He's not as good at this point. He was clearly not as good as Luke Kuechly by a wide margin. He didn't time well or perform all that well during the off-season circuit.
I'd give him a try, I mean, he's got a lot of things to like about him...he's one of those guys you just don't see "busting" and at the very minimum could be core special teamer...but you just don't know really considering how much he's degraded from the cancer as a football player.
I'd love my team to be apart of his story for either success or failure though.
I would think being diagnosed with a rare bone cancer would have something to do with it.
So if Herzlich is apparently so good and he has so much potential even with being diagnosed with a rare bone cancer teams aren't willing to give up a 6th or 7th to give him a shot?
Dane Sanzenbacher was really good for Ohio State. I thought he was better than Anthony Gonzalez, yet Gonzalez somehow scammed his way into a high draft pick and Sanzenbacher went undrafted.
Pat Devlin was terrible at Penn State, and nothing special at Delaware.
John Clay was Wisconsin's 3rd best RB last year. No idea why he's on the list.
If it wasn't for their wealth of undersized white guys who perform Dane Sanzenbacher as Patiots written all over him.
16. Ricardo Lockette, WR, Fort Valley State: Teams love speed, and he is the fastest player available of all undrafted free agents.
17. Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin: Smart quarterback with good but not great arm. Has been very successful with accuracy and ability to hit the right receivers.

I already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SB
FB Henry Hynoski, Pittsburgh (will compete for the starting job)
DE Pierre Allen, Nebraska (if he makes the team, some depth)
OT/G Jarriel King, Mississippi State (if he makes the team, some depth)
5. Jake Kirkpatrick, C, TCU: A former high school basketball player who is strong and smart and has traits that remind some of Colts veteran Jeff Saturday.
