Albert Haynesworth Traded To The Patriots for a 2013 5th Rounder

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. To another 3-4 team, the Hood not having any of that fuckery.

    Adam Schefter
Filed to ESPN: Washington traded DT Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick in 2013.

60-40 chance he doesnt perform and for 5.4 mil thats a pretty big gamble

the chance he doesnt perform could be compounded by the pats running a 3-4 (maybe they put him at DE position to make him happy)
    RIP

They can only be using him for trade bait later or something, Wilfork is a monster they don't need Fat Al and the guy doesn't want to play 3-4... kinda pissed another team with a 4-3 didn't pick him up would of liked to see if he would actually perform again.

Patriots acquired DL Albert Haynesworth from the Redskins in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2013.
The Skins did far better than we thought they would, acquiring three future picks for Haynesworth and Donovan McNabb. Many in the media will praise the Patriots for their "stability" and "brilliance" in making such a move, but they're really just like any other team -- they're talent collectors. And they're willing to gamble. Haynesworth refused to play nose tackle in Washington's 3-4 defense, but the Pats have Vince Wilfork to do that. At the very least, Haynesworth should be an instant impact interior pass rusher in the nickel defense. There's no doubt about it: This move has a low cost and potentially very, very high reward.

Not really, but they do run a 4 man front in the nickel package a bit, that's a lot of meat up front with Al and Wilfork

I like it. I'm sure the guy will want to perform after all the shit he went through in Washington, he can't be that devoid of pride.

According to a league source, the Patriots have released defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. The 6-foot-6, 350-pound Haynesworth, who was traded to New England on July 29 for a 2013 draft pick, played in six games for the Patriots this season, making three tackles (two solo).

Haynesworth, 30, was an All-Pro in 2007 and 2008 with the Titans. He signed a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Redskins that offseason, but after two disappointing seasons in Washington, he was sent to New England. His tenure with the Pats, however, lasted just one half-season.
I wonder if he's finally played himself out of the league. I'm sure some team will take a chance though.

Thats not a typical 4-man front, when 3-4 teams go nickel they put their OLB's as DE's and remove the NT.

With that said, NE has been primarily a 4-3 team this year, although they've used LB Ninkovich (barf) as their edge rusher along with Andre Carter.
