    Marc Bulger retires....does anyone care?

I don't, but i figure what the hell. There's a thread for everything else.

Baltimore, MD — Veteran quarterback Marc Bulger will retire rather than accept an offer to return for another season in the NFL, according to a report.

The Baltimore Sun reported on its website Wednesday that Bulger, who didn't take a snap as the backup to Ravens starter Joe Flacco last season, received offers from other teams this offseason that he chose not to pursue.

Bulger told ESPN.com that he was retiring and said he was "excited to continue doing work through my foundation to help the men and women in uniform who risk their lives everyday so we can enjoy the game of football."

Best known for the time he spent as a starter for the St. Louis Rams, Bulger made two Pro Bowls in his career after being selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round (No. 168 overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft out of West Virginia.

He started at least 14 games four different times for the Rams, including all 16 in 2006. He passed for 22,814 yards, 122 touchdowns and 93 interceptions in 96 games with St. Louis, including 95 starts.

Bulger, 34, signed a one-year contract with the Ravens last season after the Rams released him in April 2010.

But he never got a chance to play. The 26-year-old Flacco passed for 3,622 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while starting every game for the Ravens for the third straight season.

he was a good QB IMO but STLs oofensive problems really fucked him up. after a while it ooked like he was shell shocked and couldnt make the quick decisions like before.

hope he does well after this.

Would have loved for him to come back and back up Flacco again. :/

Bulger was literally beaten out of the league.

Before he had the life beat of of him during the Linehan era, Bulger was a very, very accurate passer who was very cool under pressure.

In typical retard fan/media fashion, his unflappable demeanor and level emotions were often described as "cool", "calm", and "steady leadership" when the team had talent and was winning games. But when things went bad, and the team started losing, those descriptions turned into "emotionless", "unpassionate", and "lack of leadership". Thing was, nothing changed except the talent around him. Aside from Steven Jackson and OJ Atogwe, the Rams from 2007-2009 were probably the least talented team in the modern era of the NFL. Six wins in three seasons....and of course, it was all the fault of the QB. Never mind this was the same QB who was throwing for 4,000 yards and winning road playoff games a few years earlier.

But that's life as an NFL passer. Bulger was a guy who never got enough credit when things were going well, and took far too much blame when things went bad.

Bulger was great until his offensive line gave out on him. I wish he would have gotten another chance to start in the league with another team to see if he has anything left. But the guy has made tens of millions of dollars, can't blame him for sailing off into the sunset.

He's one of those QBs where you wonder what could've been. If he hadn't gone to shit (o-line problems? better TE blocking/receiving?) the Rams would've been sick on offense. Imagine Steven Jackson running free when the opposing defense actually had to respect the passing threat.
