I said it before. I'd take slouch Moss over 99% of every other WR all time.

Rice is entitled to his opinion. I don't doubt his remarks. I just don't see what Rice gains by saying it.

Maybe nothing to gain, but I can see how a guy like Moss would really frustrate a guy like Rice, even if he didn't know him personally, and he had a forum to voice his opinion and here we are.

For instance you have your "Berowsk" type(basketball), guys that are 6'7+ and could be beast in HS atleast. But never bother to do anything with their height
I had a friend of mine who was throwing around 65 MPH at 10 years old. He was a tall kid for that age group and had long arms which helped his velocity. I was the catcher for him, and while he struggled with control, that type of speed is rare at that age.

Sadly, he never did anything after that year with baseball, nor any other sport. He didn't have anyone to really push him and its a shame because of what he showed that year. He's my age, and is struggling to make a living due to assault charges and drug possession charges that have really crippled his chance at getting a job.

We shall see. I've always thought of Moss and TO that if these guys were really the greatest WRs of their generation, how come no one wants them on their team? Its kind of odd for a HOF talent to bounce around the league. I don't know if people will consider this in hindsight, or if they are just going to peruse a statistical list and think "Man, these guys caught a ton of TDs".

If being a good person was a prerequisite to getting in the HOF they might be in trouble, but its not. As it stands i'd be surprised if they both weren't 1st ballot.

How does being lazy = not being allowed to have other interests? Aaron Rodgers plays guitar and started a music business. Rodger's isn't lazy. Moss is. You may call a player not being allowed to be lazy "bullshit conformist football culture", I don't. I would just call you an idiot.

The football geek in me wants to know what would have been if I saw a motivated Moss, but I'm not mad at the guy. He was still lightning in a bottle, and I'm very much happy to have seen it.
I'm mad at the guy. He may have been the best player on the field during a game but was his effort or lack thereof the difference between his team and fans winning a championship? If he would have put in more effort and become an even better WR, would he have some championships? With guys like him, I think he cheated his teammates and fans by being lazy.

I agree 100% with Jerry Rice. It's hard for people to understand sometimes but when you are a natural talent like Moss you don't earn it the way a self made person like Jerry has. Jerry is Ultra competitive so when he sees someone like Moss it gets too him. Moss worked hard, but not hard enough. He reminds me of Allen Iverson in basketball. Once that type of guys get older they get exposed that much more. Jerry scored a touchdown verse the Bucs while he was a Raider and he was like 40yrs old. That shows his work ethic speaks for itself.

And neither one won a championship. Iverson is another that I think cheated his fans.

Because maybe Moss's interests include being "lazy"? I'm pretty sure nobody gives a fuck about Aaron Rodgers in this discussion. What does he have to do with Moss? Different people are into different shit. Rodgers shittily tries to play music, Moss ran a smoothie chain, Rice ran up and down mountain sides all off season ... Who gives a fuck?

You may call a player not being allowed to be lazy "bullshit conformist football culture", I don't. would just call you an idiot
Oh no, I have a difference of opinion, I must be an idiot! Thanks for proving my point. So who is to say Moss is lazy? Who is his judge? Is Jerry Rice supposed to approve or disapprove the try levels of every player? Are you?

Moss was a great football player, one of the greatest actually, and doesn't really bother me in the slightest how much work he did or didn't do to get there.. It shouldn't bother anyone, really. If you can get to the apex of your profession, you must be doing something right.

Or his fans are delusional and didn't realize the kind of athlete their players are.

You'd think a fan would follow them close enough to know all there is to know...

So no, he and Moss didn't cheat fans, fans chose to ignore their faults and support them anyways.
