Pats to Cut Haynesworth or Ocho

The thing that makes Tom Brady such an amazing quarterback is that he distributes the ball so well. he gets the most out of his guys, and the recieving numbers of his players are very close together I had to go take a look at the stats here.
this is incredible. look at how even the yardage distribution is. Tom Brady doesn't really need a "number one reciever". (more on this in a moment) Even still, Wes Welker had 87 catches last year. I don't know how you get more "number one" than 87 catches.
Taking a look at a few other teams with quality QBs:
Packers:
Greg Jennings is the fucking man. incredible YPC, impressive yardage totals. but still caught less balls than Welker, and there was a significant drop-off from Jennings to the other guys. Crazy to look at how Driver's play has dropped off.
It's almost apples and oranges to compare the two teams, but just for arguments sake, ok, so Reggie Wayne is "true number one". That's the colts though. theres practically no comparison between the coaching philosophies of those two teams. In other words.... Manning needs a true number one. Tom Brady doesn't.
New England on the other hand is going to be fine with or without Chad Johnson.
I think it's unfair to say that Manning needs a true number one. I think he has just been blessed in a franchise that has been able to draft Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. I would argue that Manning is a better distributor than Brady though, especially considering that he's the only QB in NFL history to have a season in which three receivers had 65+ rec, 1000+ yards, and 10+ TDs.
Also, keep in mind that Dallas Clark was injured practically less than halfway threw the season and still has numbers close to Aaron Hernandez. The fact that Jacob Tamme came in and had the season he had coming in halfway should speak volumes to Manning's ability to distribute.
Welker is a difficult receiver to talk about. Honestly, he's not their number one guy. He's just a really good slot receiver--essentially a receiving running back. It's all short routes for Welker--screens, short outs, comebacks. It's plays that allow him to turn into a running back. I mean, the guy's 15th in the NFL in YAC this season, yet 30th in receiving yards. In fact, half of his receiving yardage comes after the catch and that's remarkable considering that he averages just under 10 yards a catch. I think that Welker's ability to get his yardage should be more of a credit than Brady distributing. No offense to Brady, he's phenomenal, but I still think Rodgers and Manning are better distributors.
