So whats with the top 3 backs running 4.60 40's?

Eskimo needs to show these guys what speed is.

You know speed shifts every year. Last year the HB's were faster than the WR's. Wait til the CB's get up there.

        Hear Raji did 33.

Bad news for me. Brace's stock can only rise.

I don't think any of the corners will touch Heyward-Bey

Jesus, looks like Harvin lost a step.

            4.41? And Murphy ran a 4.43?

            Damn, son...

A few things here....(assuming your talking about Oher)

              1) It was 21 times
              2) He is nearly a foot taller then you are (5'9 vs 6'7)
...2a) I believe his wingspan is actually wider then 6'7
              3) They don't train bench pressing.

As a football movement, bench press is the third most important lift. #1 is Power Clean, and #2 is Squat. I've talked to several D-1 strength coaches (well, listened more then talked) and none of them really considered the bench press an essential. To them, it's the best upper body pushing movement, which is pretty low on the list of importance.

As another reference, Shaun Rogers (DT-CLE, former all-pro) failed on 22 reps during a pro-bowl competition. Hasn't really effected him.

Obviously it's pretty disappointing when a man that big fails to get 30 reps. It's just not that important. His athletic abilities will mean far more (shuttle, 40 ect..) then his strength.

                great post...

power clean measures explosion and squat measures overall strength of the legs.

I think his wingspan is much wider then his body height, meaning his body is actually out of proportion, although ideal for the Offensive Tackle spot.

out of proportion body's because of insanely long arms make bench press harder.

I'm 5'7 but have a 6' wing span, shit happens.

                  speaking of the combine,

                  Derrick Williams really dissapointed me.

it was pretty much downright pitiful, and the guy I was hoping to grab as a solid second round pick if we managed to trade down, I don't think I would want unless he was in the 6th, 7th, or undrafted rookie free agent.

Don't worry, I'm sure on their pro days all these guys who ran "slow" 40's are going to improve by at least .2 seconds.

Maualuga and Orakpo both hurt their hamstrings today at the combine.

And Maualuga's stock was already falling due to questions about his pass coverage skills and 'intelligence'.

I think he just aggravated a previous injury when he tried to air hump Erin Andrews.

                                That could be career threatening.
