Good for Vick. He more than paid his dues for his crimes (who goes to jail for 2 years and loses tens of millions for animal cruelty??) and nobody gave him anything upon his return to the league. He earned that new contract.

They allowed him back in. He isn't guaranteed a job in the NFL just because he did his time, he's just guaranteed to live free. He made the most of his 2nd opportunity but something was giving to him....a 2nd chance.

I certainly never said Vick was a victim. He pled guilty and did his time so he deserves a chance at rehabilitation. The dumb redneck you mentioned was one of the top 2 kingpins of dog fighting in the entire country and his sentence is likely to be reduced to time served after 6 years and an $80,000 fine. You are also leaving out the incident that drove his arrest was that a person had wandered onto his land and was shot by a gun that had been put out as a booby trap.

Comparing Michael Vick's small operation to that guys is like comparing a street dealer to Pablo Escobar.

David Tant from South Carolina was sentenced to 40 years but again, he was one of the top 2 people in the nation for dog fighting and also set a booby trap that shot an innocent person. Guns and shooting kick it up a notch for sentencing. He will still never serve 40 years.

Another dog fighting ring leader was sentenced to just 5 years today and he has been a major player for 40 years. That seems a little more in line with the crime.
