Why would MJD do any worse? No one respected the pass when Garrard was in, nothing will change. I actually think Luke is a bit better than Garrard at this point and once Gabbert takes over the passing game will be fine.

The Jags forum is down. I guess the collective amount of jubilation was too much for their server to take.

Why do you read that trash? Go to Big Cat Country.

The funny part of all of this is the team can't sell tickets right now so they cut the starting QB days before the season which basically tells us that the front office thinks we have no chance of competing. Yeah I'm sure people are lined up for season tickets now to watch Luke McCown drive us into the ground. I really think that they need to start Gabbert right away, no way is he worse than Luke and it will add a little more excitement to the team. Oh well, time to be frustrated on Sundays for another year. I mean I don't think Garrard would of lead this team to the playoffs but it at least gave some fans some false hope and made them buy some tickets.

I dunno maybe i should go to big cat country. Sounds like a country station to me... I disagree with starting gabs though. I really don't think he is fully prepared to lead an NFL offense. I think he'll be rushed in though, maybe by week 5 or 6.

Redskins should sign him, but I doubt they will........Shanahan wants to prove everyone wrong about his quarterbacks.

Don't give 'em that much credit.

Really does sound like they just up and changed their mind over the past week or two in wanting to step on the road to Gabbert.

Jaguars release David Garrard because they wanted to do something to get people to talk about them this season.

I read this and I clicked the link expecting some kind of bad joke.

then i had to check just to be sure it wasnt april fools day.

then I realized that yes, in fact, Del Rio is trying to roll out Luke McCown as an NFL starter.

I really feel bad for you Jags fans, Del Rio should have been aced like 4 or 5 years ago, he's the coaching equivelent of Alex Smith in San Francisco, somebody that just miraculously keeps his job after year in and year out of sucking.

Garrard isn't that bad is he? Niners should take a look...

David Garrard sucks, what is the big issue here? Its Gabbart's team now, who cares about Garrard. If David Garrard is your QB, you are going nowhere.

I heard an interview today with Del Rio and he claimed they told Garrard its his job to win or lose this year. He said he waited all preseason and they felt like Garrard didnt show them anything so they cut him.

Because often what the team tells the media is actually what was discussed behind closed doors

The bigger mistake was giving him a contract extension in the first place. This is just correcting that error. I'm blown away both at the shock and the outrage this has generated.

I saw the headline today and thought "oh. Took them long enough."
