Figured we'd might as well get this started here. Bucky, Bill, and I need a place to ramble about the Packers. I'm sure there's some VSN vetz that are Packers fans.

Anyway, not a whole lot going on at the moment with the Packers. Things will hopefully get more interesting on Feb. 27th.

lol, Bucky, I created this and immediately after got your message. I can't respond cause I don't yet have 30 posts but I agree we need to recruit the Packers crew over. I see Bill made it. Aaron might be tough to get a hold of. Haven't seen much of him since his semi-retirement from MM. dmull is another one we gotta get over here.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Packers do in the offseason this year. If the new defensive scheme is effective they could definitely be in position to contend for the division again in '09!

I really think the Pack need somebody that can step in and stop the run. Malcolm Jenkins is a good player, but he's not really a great cover corner and we have Williams who I think will have a good year. If we take Jenkins with our first pick, we should really get a DE or DT with our 2nd rounder.

Big fan of Maybin, E. Brown, Raji, or J. Smith for our first rounder. I wouldn't be that disappointed with Jenkins. I like Jenkins. Just think we need some immediate help in other areas.

What kind of work you do at Lambeau? I would love to get involved with the Packers organization eventually. Would be a great excuse to return back to GB and a dream job. Not sure how many IT guys they need but if the opportunity surfaced I'd jump all over it. Doubt the opportunities are there given the current market though.

I have a minor in that I hope to use in the future. My sister has been dating John Dorsey's (Packers head scout) son for something like 3 years now. And in an odd twist of fate my other younger sister just started dating his other younger son. And to top it off, John bought our old house. Very odd looking back at how that all worked out.

In football related news, I may have to reconsider wanting Maybin a #9. He didn't run as well as many had hoped at the combine and is apparently slipping down the boards. JSO also reported that he seemed a little in over his head.

I would say that Raji and Brown top my board at this point. Andre Smith's colossal fuck up at the combine may also affect the Packers. He had a decent shot of going in the top 10. I would say that is probably out of the question at this moment. This means a guy we may have hoped to be there at 9 may get taken before we thought.

As for who I'd like to see the Packers take in the draft... I'd like them to draft Jenkins because they need a good and young corner for when either Woodson or Harris leave. And from what I've seen from him... surely he's not even close to being like Ahmad Carroll. After that they should look at a DE... sometime in the later rounds I'd like them to take a serious look at A.Q. Shipley, I liked what I saw from him at the combine and I think he would be very successful here.
