The Oakland Raiders approached the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday about a trade for quarterback Carson Palmer, Yahoo! Sports reported, citing a source familiar with the Raiders' thinking.
Bengals owner Mike Brown has been uninterested in trading Palmer, who said before the season that he would retire if Cincinnati didn't trade him and so far has been true to his word.
The Raiders lost starting quarterback Jason Campbell with a broken collarbone during their 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that Campbell likely will miss the rest of the regular season.
Kyle Boller is Oakland's backup, and behind him is rookie Terrelle Pryor, who has yet to take a snap in the NFL and just became eligible after a five-game suspension.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
