Why on earth do they think trading for Palmer would be a better move than rolling with Boller? Palmer has been sitting on his ass, is likely out of shape, and even if he's in shape, it will take him a few weeks to learn the system and get acclimated. Boller has been with the team for two seasons and knows at least understands the playbook. By the time Palmer is playing, its Week 8. By the time he's comfortable, its Week 10 or 11. It's way too late to drag a guy in from the street, especially a guy who threw 20 picks last year, makes something like a billion dollars, and isn't exactly a world beater. The season is in full swing, at this point whatever you have at QB you are stuck with.
Turns out Palmer is familiar with the offense and can probably play right away, so it looks like i'm wrong about this.

Can't really kill the Raiders for this move with that information, they haven't won in a long time and they have a chance at 4-2 in a weak division to do something. The price was high, but fuck it. All in. It's an interesting situation to watch unfold.

Looks like Hue Jackson is in complete control of front office moves at the moment...

Another poster who gets thanked simply off name value.

Thats exactly what im saying, if the Raiders make the playoffs and better yet win a playoff game, the move is worth it. They definitely have a chance to do that this year. I do believe him and Hue Jackson worked together in the past, and that Palmer has apparently been staying in good shape (obviously can never recreate game shape or practices), but Palmer is a bright dude, if he wasnt staying very active it would've been pretty dumb of him.

Hopefully he can catch on somewhere next season and get a chance to compete for a starting gig.

Not really. I changed my mind and admitted I was wrong. I didn't know Palmer had a history with the offense.

It wasn't high, it was way too high.
Only 7-8 elite years from Palmer and a lot of playoff success can make the price irrelevant. The new rookie cap makes two 1s way more valuable than a QB whose play has declined the past three years and hasn't played in a while.
