The fact that this was initially ruled an incompletion is mind-boggling. The fact that this was the second Lions TD catch initially ruled an incompletion (Pettigrew had an earlier TD catch that needed review) is even more mind-boggling.
I've never understood this "going to the ground" rule, because no one can explain what "going to the ground" means. Burleson is upright in the endzone and gets 3 feet in bounds. In the endzone, the only body part that is in contact with the ground is his feet. Stop with these stupid rules.
On a side note, Mike Carey used to be one of the best officials in the league, but now he is one of the worst. Too many penalties called, too many of those penalties being either completely phantom or completely irrelevant to the action on the field, too many officials conferences that consume 60-120 seconds before a call is actually made, too many TERRIBLE calls that aren't in the spirit of the rules. The Lions-Niners game was brutal to watch.
