I think an incentive based contract with the Bears would be the perfect fit for T.O. Cutler is the right kind of QB to deal with him and can get him the ball if he gets even a little space.

I have to wonder if T.O. wouldn't be getting more interest if he had an agent that was more concerned about T.O.'s career than his own camera time.

      Why?

They are getting a great value right now and running backs in the NFL routinely plummeted.

I'm fine with them getting awesome value now, franchises tagging and then pushing him aside.

Theo said it best yesterday, don't pay for past performance.

No fucking clue how he would begin to see the TB player to make that cut.

He obviously gets all my money if I had some at all. But, i'm not worried. He will get his money.

Again, they give you the ability to franchise tag a guy. Why would they sign him to a long term deal now? Do you honestly believe he's going to continue at this pace?

I agree. As much as it would be nice to have him locked up for a while, the Bears are in no rush. Actually, in a weird way they are playing it safe money wise. Let him do what he doing on this contract, and wait to franchise him.

I also think something will get done at the end of the season for him. He's due something.

                Paul Edinger was that dude.

Edit: Bears don't need Terrell Owens. Their better off leaving him where he is.

You cut Roy Williams all day and have that send a message to your team that nobody gets paid to suck. There has been talk about how the players are unhappy with the front office's tactics, cutting Roy Williams would set the record straight about that shit too.

Anyway, franchising Forte does make the most sense... the NFLPA should sue Chris Johnson for all the money he lost for every other running back in the league with his pitiful season. There's no way Forte is putting up these kind of numbers 2 seasons from now, and in a sense, the dude has almost played himself out of a contract extension, it would be crazy 6 year starting quarterback (or for that matter, crazy Chris Johnson) kind of shit based on an MVP season like he's having.

The Bears aren't going to cut Roy Williams. For some odd reason, the Front Office STILL thinks he's going to put up huge numbers this season...

I haven't really liked T.O. his entire career, but I actually want him to come back and do something. Weird under dog story.

Forte is only a 4th year player, and every season he's played for the bears he's accounted for more of their total offense than any player in that same time span for any other team. Played himself out of a contract? That's retarded, he's arguably more valuable to the Bears than any other non QB player in the league is to their own team. Let Forte get hurt for a game or two and see what happens to this Bears offense.

I agree with Saluki, Matt has proved his worth to this team and is still young, theres no reason we shouldnt give him his money for the next half decade, I promise you we could do a lot worse over that time. But I understand the business of the game and why they're just going to continue to franchise dude, but theres no doubt he deserves that contract and has proven that.

As for Cutler's grade, I do believe he deserves better. Its amazing to me thats hes somehow been able to adapt to the hideous O-Line and has stopped making those bone-headed mistakes, which I attribute early in his time in Chicago to not being used to that kind of pressure coming at him, and having to get rid of the ball quickly, he always had good blocking in Denver. Now that hes been able to adjust, the way hes been able to move around and make the best out of this offense to me has been pretty damn remarkable. The WRs are dropping balls like nuts and the Oline has even had the same starting unit for more then 2 weeks in a row, its a tough time for Jay and hes played really well this year IMO. I just hope people see that the early struggles in Chicago werent all on him and can give him credit for his ability to adapt, even if it took a couple seasons .

Does he "deserve" it? Yes, but this is actually a smart business decision by the Bears. Forte has zero leverage in it and they are playing it exactly how they should. They'll still have the rest of this year and hypothetically two more years of him. Does anyone honestly think for years 4, 5 and potentially 6 he's going to be worth a damn?

How many NFL RB have that long of lifespans anymore?
