Drew Brees: Most Valuable Loser (2009 Edition.)

I usually wait until the regular season to make this thread, but since Drew Brees is such a popular topic here at VSN, I've decided to start it now, and bump it up during the season.

    What is this thread about?

It's a thread where I follow every negative thing Drew Brees does throughout the current season, and for shits and giggles, maybe throw out a few negative things he's done throughout his entire career, to help make the week go faster. I will not post anything positive about the man, including victories, what little victories he does manage to get. Let me start off by posting a few stats, including his career win/loss record, and number of playoff games he has won.

    Career Record: 55 - 51.
    Career Record (NO): 25 - 23.
    Playoff Victories: 1
Number of seasons as Starter: 7.
Record When Trailing After 3 Quarters (NO): 1 - 19

Drew Brees is known for his big numbers, and for fucking up when the games matter most. He also ranks right up there, or should I say down there, with some of the worst quarterbacks in NFL history, when it comes to winning football games. ''It's a team sport, Nuk.'' Yes, I am aware of that, but a team depends on the quarterback to be the leader of the franchise, to step up when needed most, to make the players around him better. That's not Drew Brees, never has been. I currently have Drew Brees ranked 8th in the NFL as of today, I believe, which is more than fair.

Jake ''The Snake'' Plummer: 69 - 67, 2 Post Season Victories.
Rex Grossman: 19 - 12, 2 Post season victories, 1 super bowl appearance.
    Mike Vick: 38 - 28, 2 Post season victories.
Trent Dilfer: 58 - 55, 5 post season victories, 1 super bowl title.
    Jay Schroeder: 61 - 38, 4 Post season victories.
Jake Delhomme: 50 - 31, 5 Post Season victories, 1 super bowl appearance.

That's just to name a few guys, who didn't quite put up the fancy stats that Drew Brees has, but when it came to winning football games, they managed to do what Drew Brees hasn't. I don't believe in comparing Drew Brees to guys like Warner, Manning, Brady, or any other top 7 NFL quarterback, so any posts doing so, will not be replied to. If you feel the need to support Drew Brees and his incompetence, and you actually want a response from me, you must compare him to players that are more in his league, such as Tony Romo, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyler Thigpen, Carson Palmer, and so on.

    A few questions...

    1. ''Nuk, do you really think Drew Brees sucks?'' - No. Drew Brees is a top 10 NFL quarterback, barely. He puts up excellent numbers, which I refer to as ''empty stats.'' Stats which average quarterbacks put up, to make up for their inability to win football games. Drew Brees does not suck, he's just a loser. Good question. I'm glad you ask.

    2. ''Nuk, lol, Brees>Warner.'' - Again, I refuse to compare a guy like Kurt Warner, who has accomplished everything an NFL player could ever hope of doing, in such a short span. So, if it helps you sleep at night. Lol, Brees>Warner. Now, move on.

    3. ''Nuk, Drew Brees doesn't have a supporting cast.'' - New Orleans finished with the #1 ranked offense, and the 23rd ranked defense. Arizona finished with the #4 ranked offense, and #19 ranked defense, which only gave up 8 fewer yards per game than New Orleans. Arizona made it to the super bowl. Arizona also had the 32nd ranked rush offense.

    4. ''Nuk, when will this stop?'' - When Drew Brees manages to take his team to a super bowl.

    5. ''Nuk, ''your'' a tool.'' - And you're more than likely an illiterate jack ass, but I won't hold it against you.

Any posts mentioning the questions I have already answered, will not be responded to, at least by me. Other people, are more than welcome to respond. If you have any negative stats or memories you wish to share of Drew Brees, you will receive a ''Thanks.''

Welcome to my 2009 Drew Brees thread.

Drew Brees is the best quarterback to ever grace this planet.

In all seriousness though, I remember seeing my first ever college football game at Purdue when Brees was playing, and he was amazing to watch, much like any pro-football bound player is.

Great stuff, and I love this thread already.

Kinda like Carson Palmer? 119 million, just to play like Drew Brees.

      Gotta love the NFL.

Ok, Thanks go to anything negative about Brees. I get that.

Do you want to clarify the rules a little more?

          Like:

What happens with true, negative statements about Kurt Warner? In a negative Drew Brees thread? Cause there is a nice list of Kurt Warner negatives.

What happens with true positive Brees statements?

Positive Kurt Warner statements? There are plenty of these too.

Just to avoid confusion, for the rest of the posts in the thread!!!

This really has nothing to do with Kurt Warner, positive or negative. If Kurt Warner were to, say, finish 2-14, I'd still be bashing Drew Brees. You're more than welcome to bash or praise Kurt Warner. You can even praise Drew Brees, but I won't respond to any arguments which compare a guy like Drew Brees to any top five NFL quarterback, like a Warner. I'll start you off by offering my own Drew Brees compliment, which won't be a regular thing coming from me.

Drew Brees is right up there with Tyler Thigpen - When it comes to fantasy football.

LOL at comparing Brees to Dilfer, Jay Schroeder and Grossman.

I don't think Nuk would even take those 3 bums over Brees.

lol I think only Dome Patrol hates him.

I could care less either way, I just like arguing sports.

I groaned the thread cause I disagree with your view on Brees, but this thread should be fun to watch lol.

                    Matt Hasselbeck vs. Drew Brees.

4 playoff victories, 1 super bowl appearance.

What's Hass' career record? I know it's gotta be better than Drew's.

It's funny you should bring that up. I'm the complete opposite offline. I actually bore quite easily, and I can't remember the last time I had a relationship that lasted longer than a month. My family/friends always ask me what my deal is.. Maybe I should date a Drew Brees fan, and ask the bitch to wear his jersey - She might hold my interest for a longer period of time.

Pretty sure it's better as he had posting winning records for 5 straight years including a 13-3 mark just 3 years ago.

In an effort to get more information and flow in this thread I present an argument that is sure to come eventually.

Drew Brees isn't surrounded with the right "crew" to succeed. Bush is a bust and McCallister is a bum. Colston was injured most of the year and a few of the bright sports [Vilma, Moore, Brees] isn't enough to get this team to the playoffs. The argument about Brees sucking is null due mainly to the fact that Brees supplied All-Pro numbers while on a bad team. This is the exact argument used against Peyton consistently. He's 7-8 in the playoffs, does that make him a bad quarterback? Or does that make his supporting cast better?

Let me ask you how many times you've actually watched Brees? Have you seen him in a real game, in real life? His mechanics are excellent, and he's got excellent instincts in the pocket.

You say Brees isn't a great quarterback. I say he doesn't have a great supporting cast.

Anyone can pull NFL statistics, and since statistics apparently mean everything, he's a horrible quarterback. Would you say the same thing about Peyton Manning, or Donovan McNabb?

For the record, I'm not a Brees fan, he's a Boilermaker, it's in my blood to hate him. On the contrary however, I will admit he's a great quarterback, just like I'll readily admit that Brady is a fantastic quarterback [I'm a Colts fan, therefore, Brady sucks cock, like any Blue Crew guy].
