He's not going through progressions. He is locking onto Jackson and Gates or he looks to dump it off. The offense has lost rhythm and sync because he isn't going through the reads.

He's just waiting for his guy to get open and when he doesn't he tries to make something happen but he's not Big Ben. When he has to check it down, he's checking down to Tolbert or Matthews, not Darren Sproles. That is another big issue that I think most people are forgetting, Sproles played a huge factor in that offense and helped Rivers a lot by moving the chains.

The Sproles connection was huge, and I don't think people realize how big that was. He also didn't have Gates, and Gates is just now getting back into things. Also, Malcom Floyd missed the game today and has been battling injury, so the vertical aspect to their passing game is missing as well.

But, I did read where some are thinking Rivers is playing hurt and not saying anything. That is certainly as good an explanation as any, though Norv Turner isn't the type of coach to play that game.

Gates finally looks being back to 100%, hopefully Floyd comes back and Jackson stays healthy - we'll see things improve a bit. Quarter 4 today is the first time all year he has looked like himself.
