Anyways, the atmosphere at Ford Field is going to be classic this season. When Stafford starts his first game next year, and trust me we're dumb enough to throw him out there when Culpepper implodes, I'm getting tickets just so I can hear how badly he gets booed.

The city of Detroit does not want a quarterback, we want an offensive lineman or Aaron Curry. These front office guys for the Lions think that Stafford will sell tickets, he won't.
I couldn't have said it better as a Lions fan, that's exactly what is bound to happen, and like you said, I want Aaron Curry. He'll be amazing with Sims at LB.

But, knowing the Fords, they'll jump at it no matter how much money they have to pay them, just because they have it in their head that he'll sell tickets and sell out Ford Field.

    -_-

I wouldn't doubt it, he had that dinner with the Lions staff or organization a week ago, and then a couple days later he says he'd love to throw to Calvin and all that, whatever, they've definitely told him he's going #1.

At least he isn't being a bitch about going to a shitty team like Eli Manning did.

The NFL isn't Madden 2009 though.. just because you want to trade the pick doesn't mean you can.

The Lions were trying desperately to move down a few years ago when Calvin Johnson was on the board.. I doubt there will be any takers for Stafford.

Detroit is stuck.. they basically have no choice here.. they almost have to take Stafford because when you are 0-16, you obviously need to blow it all up and identify a guy you can build and market your franchise around.

That guy isn't an offensive tackle and it isn't Aaron Curry.

Do you think it'll take a year? I can see the guy playing mid season.

Seems that Ken Lucas is one of few players that do not want to be a Lion.

I think he could get thrown in the fire from week 1. I dont see why he wouldnt be able to beat out culpepper and orlovsky.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

It wouldn't surprise me either, but I sure don't see the guy sitting out for an entire year.

Sorry I meant this upcoming season.

Here's a rundown of how the QB position will go after the Lions take Stafford:

Training Camp: We're told Culpepper looks great and so does Stafford, both are in competition to start. Obviously they're lying and are going to throw Daunte out there for 6-8 games at most.

Pre-season: Daunte plays sparingly so we hide his terribleness. Stafford looks ok playing against guys most likely to be cut the following day.

Season: Culpepper starts and looks terrible, throwing to random spots one the field and costing us games. Calvin has suicidal looks on his face at all times. Stafford comes in about halfway and looks ok because we'll keep him on a short leash of 10 yard passes. Eventually we open the offense up and Stafford is Jon Kitna reincarnated. Sometimes he looks good, other times he looks like a high school back up, and sometimes you wonder whether or not he has ever played football.

Eventually Lions fans say fuck it, the economy blows and we're pissed, lets burn this mother down. Lions fans take control of Ford Field and execute Bill Ford Sr at the 50 yard line.

Boy! Detroit sure is popular all of a sudden. See what 0-16 will do for a team?
I truly feel sorry for whoever signs Rex Grossman and lets him start!

Think about the Lions QB situation if Orlovsky doesn't resign.

We'd have Culpepper, Grossman, Stanton and Stafford (assuming we draft him, which knowing the Lions front office, we will). This is possibly the worse collection of quarterbacks ever. Not one of them would even be decent enough to play.

Which is why we need to resign Orlovsky and tell him he's got a chance at starting. Its clear to me that Linehan, Mayhew, and Schwartz didn't watch any Lions games last year, or any film. Orlovsky was the best QB we had on the field, Culpepper managed to lose a game for us by himself.

Orlovsky is the best QB the Lions have or can get at the moment. Yes this includes Matt Stafford, as of right now or after training camp, Orlovsky is the best option for QB that we have. He would be perfectly acceptable as an interim guy until the 2010 draft and deserves a shot at starting.

Dan O sucks he cant throw a ball past 5 yards and is the slowest 25 yr old QB ive ever seen. I dont like any of our options, but if I had to choose I'd start Kitna.

Reason Stafford didnt throw at combine was that he was already pretty solid to be Top 3 taken and at the combine your throwing to WRs that you dont know there routines. So he decided he wouldnt throw so it couldnt hurt him so at worst hes top 3 pick.

                              I wouldn't piss on Jon Kitna's shoes.

Why the hell is he even in the NFL?

Why would he go anywhere else, he needs to be somewhere that will allow his shitiness to be overshadowed by the teams shittiness.
