I posted in the Redskins thread about Chester. He stinks. Like, you would have been better off keeping Casey Rabach vs. signing Chester. The fact he got the amount of money he got made most Ravens fans laugh hysterically.

This thread says it all about Chester.

The only positive thing I can say about him is that because he's a small OG, he may do better in the NFC East where he won't have to go against huge guys like Casey Hampton and Shaun Rogers on a consistent basis.

On Wilson...he's a good player. I don't have anything bad to say about him. In the debates on Ravens boards between Carr and Wilson (our two FA CBs) I was always a pro Carr guy instead of Wilson, but Wilson isn't a bad player. He should help you guys. He came up big for us a couple times last year and was steady most other times.

Heap never dropped anything & always came up in the clutch. The same can not be said of Mason, Boldin (dropped TD in the playoff game against Pitt last year), or anyone else on the Ravens offensive roster. He also seemed to always come up big against Pittsburgh and in recent years not many players on our offense have done that...

Didn't he also have a few good clutch plays in the playoffs last year against the Steelers, while injured? The dude is a gamer is all I'm saying. I hope he leaves the AFC North TBH.

Yeah, he caught a TD near the end of the first half, don't really remember what else, I've kind of blocked that game from my memory at this point.

He signed with Arizona yesterday I believe. He's gone.

I remember a clutch 3rd down conversion (not TD) he had earlier in the game as well. Not to say he had a great game, but he was injured and came up clutch a time or two is all I'm getting at.

I'm trying to think optimistic. While Ed Dickson is strictly a receiving TE, he is very good at just that. Dickson does one thing that Heap never really did, he breaks tackles. His biggest play (against the saints http://youtu.be/4nAFRt85RG4) was an example of this.

Do I think he will make as much of an impact as Todd Heap? Not really. But that could be a good thing, as Flacco liked to rely a lot on Mason, Heap and Rice. Now coming into 2011, he only has one of those weapons and now he has to spread the ball more.

I think Ozzie is trying to make us a more explosive offense. Does Dickson do that more then Heap? Can't really tell at this point, but with Heap constantly being injury plagued the Dickson change had to be made sooner or later.

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the Chris Carr/Josh Wilson debate, I'm a little torn. Chris Carr is great on run defense and pretty decent pass defense corner. However, Carr is a nickle corner, nothing more, nothing less. Josh Wilson was a good #2 and decent #1.

No matter what happens this year, injury or not Chris Carr will remain in the nickle, while Foxworth, Jimmy, and Webby rotate the 1 and 2. So we have that position locked up. The top teams are to reliant on slot receivers (Pitt,NE, Indy), so this move was the better move. But I would have wanted to see Wilson return as well.

I am going to the practice tomorrow.

I will LOL if they really end up going into the season with Boldin, two rookies, and a guy with 10 catches as their top four WRs. Although I have heard Tandon Doss has been extremely impressive in camp so far. With Floyd off the market I have to believe they'll make the mistake of bringing back Mason. I would rather have TJ if they are going to bring back an old, slow WR from last year. At least TJ has some size.

I disagree, Mason can catch... TJ has suspect hands.

                  Anywho, have fun at M&T.

Good signing by Baltimore. Hopefully Williams will be hungry for a ring and he should be great in short bursts to spell Ray Rice.

Based on what I saw Saturday, it doesn't matter who the Ravens sign if they don't get Matt Birk back to play come Week 1. The backup C's that we have are so far beyond horrible it's not even funny. Flacco is going to get hurt if Birk ends up not being able to play against Pitt.

                          Other observations:

Dickson didn't practice, Pitta was able to get open but dropped almost every pass thrown to him, Davon Drew was the only TE who stood out.

Torrey Smith looks real good. Doss didn't have the greatest day but you can see why he's getting the praise he is. The UDFA WR they got from MD looked good too, I forget his name, though. Laquan or something?

Optimal offensive line has Jah Reid at RT. Cousins has not improved at all, Suggs, Kindle, Johnson, etc, all made him their bitch.

Kindle looks good. Seems like he has some great explosion and good speed. Honestly, looked like we were all hoping he would last year. Hope it translates to real game. Everything is set up for him to be successful, with Cody and Ngata inside and Suggs opposite him, he'll never see a double team. I would say he is one of the key players this year.

The CBs were not impressive other than Cary Williams who had a couple interceptions. Foxworth looked bad, he didn't seem hesitant but he definitely seemed slower, getting beat a few times. It could just be that it was practice & he wasn't going full speed, though. Jimmy Smith didn't practice. Carr and Webb, didn't notice anything good or bad about them. About the same as usual. I feel those two should probably be your starters Week 1.

The defense as a group looked good and were definitely bringing the heat that we haven't seen the past two years. They did some of those old Rex-style setups where they only had one or no down linemen. I think it's safe to expect big things from the defensive group especially if the younger players like Cody, Jones, and Kindle step up.

They will have to be good, because I don't think the offense is going to be very good, at least not early on.

I guess we will see some in the preseason.

Eagles/Ravens tomorrow, with a replay on NFL Network at 11pm. What are you guys most likely looking for? Jimmy Smith and Ricky Williams won't be playing in that game.

                            - I want to see how Tyrod Taylor does as (heaven forbid) Joe goes down, we need someone who will step up.

                            - Sergio Kindle may not get tons of playing time, but I would like to see him against the Eagles starting O-line.

                            - Would like to see Torrie and Tandon at work.

I just can't believe how excited I am for a preseason game.
