Not denying that the Texans were shitty, that losing the Oilers sucked, etc. It just struck me as odd to play the "woe is us" card with the opening line "For so long we've been the laughing stock of the NFL" when that's really not the case. You've got a couple of teams who have playoff droughts longer than the Texans have been a franchise. You've had some of those teams set new high points in ineptitude during that time, being run as ineptly as an NFL franchise possibly can be. Yeah, the Texans sucked for the first few years - they are an expansion team and they are kinda supposed to and some of those shitty years also put them in a position to draft key talent like Mario Williams and Andre Johnson. Sure, they've had to play in a division with a perennial powerhouse, but its not like they are alone in that. I just think that "fan suffering" goes beyond making the playoffs or not, and other franchises have given their fans far more agony and far fewer reasons to stay a fan than the Texans.
Fans should definitely enjoy the success of the team. I'm hoping they get a nice playoff run. But playing the "no one has suffered like us" card seems a touch facetious. Maybe if you throw the entire history of the Oilers in there, but that didn't seem to be what Houston was getting at.Comment

Congrats on finally breaking through and making the playoffs. Took you long enough, especially when expansion franchises in Jacksonville and Carolina were in their respective conference title games just two years into existence.

This year will be good for the Texans. They won't be winning the superbowl with Yates at QB and with the injuries they have suffered, but it will be good for the team to get some playoff experience. Next year with Schaub back they will probably be thinking superbowl for the first time ever.Comment
