More often than not the two best teams will have already settled it on the field by then. In the rare case that they haven't (undefeated Alabama vs. undefeated Florida, 2009), it's a perfect set up.Comment

I just don't see the logic behind it. The SEC CG is for the rare case that there are two teams that don't get to play during the year, (see: undefeated Alabama v. undefeated Florida, 2009), and to turn Atlanta into an SEC convention for three days out of the year. It is not there to ensure that teams can lose to an opponent get another chance down the road.
(Although in 2001, LSU did just that and ruined Tennessee's perfect season )
