I just read an article this morning that mentions Big Ben's injury this year and the one he had in 2005, along with Favre's injury in 2001? They said that Cutler's is much more severe.

I mean, why the fuck would he take the easy way out when the Bears are on such a roll right now? If they were in the Vikings position I could see him bowing out because the season is over, but not in this situation. The guy is touch as hell.

They also mentioned in the same article that the Bears may look to sign retired QB Marc Bulger which I think would be a pretty good move. Bulger was a solid QB and he played for Martz.

By the end of his time in the NFL, Bulger was like Samuel L. Jackson's character "Mr. Glass" in Unbreakable. I think the Bears would be better off just going with Hanie full-time. It might be smart to have Bulger as a 3rd stringer behind Hanie, but I think if Martz brought in Bulger he would start Bulger immediately.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think they should sign a retired player and just throw him out there but he'd be nice to have if Hanie just shits the bed.

Luckily the Bears have a favorable schedule the rest of the way. Even with Hanie I think they have a good chance of going 4-2 the rest of the way. Next weeks game vs Oakland is going to be tough and the Packers game is all but a forgone conclusion. But I definitely think they can still beat the Chiefs, Broncos, Seahawks and Vikings.

It really would've helped if the Redskin's could've beaten the Cowboys yesterday and the Panthers would've been able to put the Lions away.

            Cutlers would require surgery.

If the Bears do sign a vet, and I suspect they will because they dont want to be in the position where Enderle may have to take an real-game snaps, I most certainly hope its not someone they hope can take over as starter. Hanie has to be the guy, hes been in the offense for years and he stepped in and played decent in a really tough situation in the playofffs last year. The D and the running game are gonna have to step it up, but I see no reason why we cant still get into the playoffs. And hopefully by then Jay will be ready, but who knows? Id still be pretty disappointed if we didnt get into the playoffs atleast tho.

I realistically see Jay missing a month. Coming back for a tune up game vs the Vikings and being ready to start the playoffs.

The silver lining in all of this is the schedule. KC, Denver, Seattle, and the Vikings are very winnable games with a backup QB. Oakland not so much and GB.....well yeah.....

Thats a bummer, I was banking on CHI to roll threw the AFC west and make it easier for the Raiders to win out.

I see several. They're going to be fighting for a wild card spot with at least three other teams. Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta. Atlanta has a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way out.

I just hope Hanie comes in and plays well. He can't just come in and hand it off to Forte every play. Forte hasn't been blowing up the past few weeks like he had been and teams will be expecting Hanie to just feed him the ball all game.

They're going to be fighting for a spot is not reasoning that we cant make it. We would've been fighting for a spot regardless. The schedule is rather soft, theres no reason we cant pull out 4 wins out of those 6 games and still possibly comfortably make the playoffs.

or the PFT column about Daunte Culpepper.

or Favre for that matter. that one might have already happened, but i'm not sure because typing his name makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Bears have 1 game on Cowboys/Giants and Falcons as it is. We also own the tie breaker with Atlanta.

                              Our schedule is as follows:

                              @ Raiders
                              vs Chiefs
                              @ Broncos
                              vs Seahawks
                              @ Packers
                              @ Vikings

5 of those are winnable games. I can hope for 4-2 there IMO, maybe at worst 3-3. That will leave us @ 10-6, MAYBE 11-5, and still in a solid position to make the playoffs.

                              Lions:

                              vs Packers
                              @ Saints
                              vs Vikes
                              @ Raiders
                              vs Chargers
                              @ Packers

                              Falcons:

                              vs Vikes
                              @ Texans
                              @ Panthers
                              vs Jags
                              @ Saints
                              vs Bucs

                              Giants

                              @ Saints
                              vs Packers
                              @ Cowboys
                              vs Skins
                              @ Jets
                              vs Cowboys

                              Cowoys

                              vs Fins
                              @ Cardinals
                              vs Giants
                              @ Bucs
                              vs Eagles
                              @ Giants

IMO the schedule is very much on our side (Falcons side too I guess). I see absolutely no reason we cant still get in with that schedule and considering the schedule of others. I can see the Giants and Lions both going 3-3, I can see the Falcons going 4-2 there, and if we squeek out 3-3 in that situation that still leaves us in the playoffs. But I can see 4-2 down the stretch for us still.

I see the Bears going 1-5. 4 road games with a shitty QB is pretty damn tough. Cutler made some of those WRs look decent. Calib Hanie will make them as terrible as they actually are.
