FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP)—The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Greg Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for an undisclosed 2009 draft pick.

The Patriots also received an undisclosed 2010 draft choice from Philadelphia in the deal for Lewis, a six-year veteran who caught a touchdown pass in New England’s 24-21 Super Bowl win over the Eagles in the 2005.

Lewis caught a career-high 48 passes for 561 yards the following season, but he’s caught only 56 passes total the past three seasons.

The Patriots are thin at receiver behind Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Jabar Gaffney, who played in many of the team’s three-receiver sets, signed as a free agent last week with the Denver Broncos.

The Patriots are reportedly the first choice of free agent DE Jason Taylor.

"Great player," owner Robert Kraft said at the owners meetings. "I'm sure that can happen if he wants it." Coach Bill Belichick has long been an admirer, and the Pats could offer a legit shot at contention while picking up a much-needed pass rushing presence.

Taylor would be a good player for a year or two. Could definitely mentor a rookie OLB that we draft.

Looking at the schedule right now i see the pats ending 12-4 or 13-3. I can see the AFC Championship game being Pats vs. Steelers. Steelers had the toughest schedule last year and won the superbowl. Now they have the easiest schdule.

You guys heard about the Pats talking with Oakland about Burgess? He's been wanting out of Oakland. That'd be a nice pickup, although I don't know how Oakland could consider seeing how their last trade (Randy Moss) went.

yeah I heard about that a lil bit. My guess is they would want him to play OLB, but I dont feel like they would pull the trigger unless they could give up less than a third rounder.

Need someone who saw the game to fill me in on everything in terms of how we looked. Really upset I had to work, and now I have to wait to find a feed for the game.

I needed a damn thread excavator to dig this b!tch up, it was buried deep.

Ok fast forward 2 playoff losses and a super bowl loss and that brings you to this season.

The Pats started of ruff breaking even after six games. Since then they have been on a seven game tear, putting up some big points on division rivals and now dominating arguably the best ranked team in the NFL in the Texans.

The Pats have a tough three games in front of them to end the regular season. First they have the playoff bound 49ers in SanFran, and then the Dolphins and Jaguars who would love to end their seasons on a win over the Patriots. Hopefully they can stay healthy in these upcoming games, and bring back some injured and inactive players for the playoffs.

                        Go Pats!

Pats have been busy since their Monday night beat down. They re-signed Deion Branch, placed Donte' Stallworth on the IR (with an ankle injury), and released Visanthe Shiancoe. Aqib Talib is still questionable (with a hip injury).

                            fuck yeah.

Talib can sit vs 49ers, they don't have a scary pass game.
