I love Twitter but man it's starting to get way too overexposed.

How so?? The only way you're finding those hashtags is if you search them out on Twitter or if you're just a Twitter whore and follow a bunch of people just to try to gain followers.

As long as you keep the list of people you follow under control you should be golden.

Plus the hash tag idea is awesome if it's a subject you're looking to follow. If not you are never forced to look at it by Twitter.
          I give rep not thanks

And that's it. It's meant to be organic. Twitter is built off of organic market. When you say "HEY TWEET THIS NOW!" it completely loses its luster and becomes counterproductive.

I have absolutely nothing against Twitter, it's awesome. It's a great tool. It's 1/3 of my job, so I can't really hate it.

But when companies and organizations throw hashtags in your face, it's no longer organic and just forced. That's not what Twitter should be for. Especially when there's not monetary benefits. Watch an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw to see how to force people into hating Twitter. They spend the entire show telling you what's trending, what you should Tweet, who you should follow, etc.

Also as Rush mentioned you bring the negative with the positive too. If you're okay with people reading "Wow #Hailstate is really fucking gay" along with the "Go #Hailstate" then that's fine.

                    I think it's cool.
So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

I completely disagree (and I don't want a ZB vs FT situation). First off if you don't like the "HEY TWEET THIS" then unfollow anyone who does it... You'll never see it. If you see a hash tag on tv and you don't like it then big whoop, just don't search for it on twitter. And the hashtags for events is fun for two reasons: 1) If it's something you really like it's cool to see what other people are saying about it and can sometimes be funny or actually educational. 2) If it's something you hate and you're a normal VSD'er you can haze anyone using a hashtag like #hailstate
