Bowl Game Announcement Thread

I don't know how the pecking order of bowls breaks down but Southern Miss alumni are furious that the team is going to be playing a bowl game in Hawaii on Christmas Eve with 2 weeks notice. Nobody can afford a last minute vacation to Hawaii at the most expensive time of the year but tens of thousands were going to travel to Memphis, Birmingham or Dallas. There were several articles yesterday projecting Southern Miss to be going to the Ticket City Bowl in Dallas. Normally the Liberty Bowl takes the C-USA winner but they had a clause to bypass C-USA if 9 SEC teams were bowl eligible. Southern Miss only lost 2 games this year (granted to shitty teams) but they beat a lot of good teams and destroyed the #6 BCS team on the road and won their conference. They deserve to play another ranked team or a winning team from an auto-BCS conference.

Everybody in Hattiesburg believes that the AD accepted the Hawaii Bowl to get a free vacation for his family and the coaches families and that Fedora will be announced as the new head coach at Texas A&M the day after the players return from Honolulu.

Holy shit. How fucking awful for Southern Miss. I really do have a sense that things might get changed a bit. It these stories that really paint a picture horribly for the BCS and how they fucked shot for everyone.

Absolute insanity that a bowl game with #6 vs #8 isn't a BCS game, yet #11 vs #13 and #15 vs #23 is.

Looking over the bowl matchups.....The BCS NCG is about the 10th most interesting game to me.

I'm amazed that there are 9 bowl games you'd want to watch.

For me the only games I'm interested in are :
Michigan/Va Tech - local players I know for Tech
Oregon/Wisconsin - traditionally I usually enjoy the Rose Bowl for some reason
Stanford/Okie St - Andrew Luck
BCS NCG - defense, defense...my kind of game.

From top to bottom, this is the worst collection of bowl matchups the BCS and bowls have ever produced.

If you remember maybe 2-3 years ago I was fine with the BCS. I'm solidly in this camp now. It's become a horrible system and it's beyond broken.

Shouldn't there be a caveat that you have to win your own conference to be NCG eligible? The more I listen to the people on sports radio, they more I think they are making sense. We've already seen LSU and Bama play, Oklahoma State should be playing LSU even if Bama is a better team.

If Bama beats LSU in the rematch think about it:

They split 1-1 with basically each team winning the road game and Alabama didn't win the conference let alone even play in the conference title game....but they are crowned National Champions?

I think it is arguable that Alabama is 2nd best but even if they are, NFL fans have had to watch the AFC champion and NFC champion play for the title even if the top 2 or 3 teams were in one conference or the other. You should have to win your conference to play for the big trophy.
