Angelo “amused” by report of possible retirement

There was nothing funny about the Bears’ overtime loss to the Broncos on Sunday. But at least G.M. Jerry Angelo found something about which to smile over the weekend.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Angelo was “amused” by the NFL Network report regarding “persistent chatter” that he’s contemplating retirement.

As Biggs points out, however, the 62-year-old Angelo didn’t specifically deny the report.

Angelo is under contract through 2013. “When you get to a point in your career, the thought is always going to come up,” Angelo said. “I’ve been in the league a long time. I enjoy what I do very much. I’ve been very fortunate. I work with a great organization, great people. I still want to make a run at this.”

Given the composition of the Packers, it likely will be hard for Angelo and the Bears to catch “this” any time soon.

The Bears are looking at an ugly ugly rebuilding process here in the next few seasons. The amount of whiffed draft picks is starting to catch up with this team. I think this year alone we kepyt 5 undrafted FA's on the roster. Just awful.
