So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

Fighting in hockey is lame anyways. I was watching ESPN highlights a few weeks ago of a hockey fight. The guy (don't know his name or team) supposedly injured someone in some other game, so the team sends out their grunt to confront him. The retarded part is that the guy comes, both of them take of their gloves and they get a few hits in. It was so lame.

        1. Ouch

        2. What is this Kevlar helmet ?

        3. Scott Hall
Scott Hall's story of drugs and stints in rehab highlights the substance-abuse problems some former professional wrestlers have faced, and the efforts WWE has undertaken to try to help its ex-stars.

        4. At some point there will be a major and sudden re-evaluation and re doing of sports equipment and rules. Todays player looks the same as one 30 years ago. I dont see that being the case 10-15 years from now if the apocalypse doesnt happen.
        MLB circa 2021 ?

Best reason to have a license.

CTE is some pretty serious stuff. I've followed the Nowinski group trying to spearhead this issue. The biggest problem is this unnecessary tough guy attitude. These guys who complain about pansy rules against helmet to helmet hits will never have to worry about becoming vegetables in their mid-late 40s. We're dealing with the fastest, hardest hitting generation of the NFL ever, by far. As sports continue to educate and evolve around these things, it will get better. It's already a 100x better environment against concussion treatment/precautions than it was 15 years ago. But I worry that 10/20 years down the line, we could see the saddest, most mutilated group of ex-athletes ever. You've had isolated spots with guys like Duerson and Webster. But I think we could see dozens and dozens of stories about guys like that in single sports alone.

And hockey needs a complete overhaul. Shanahan is doing a good job so far, but there's SO much more that needs to be done. You need to start suspending guys 15 games or so for elbows to the head. I don't understand the suspension thing. You can get suspended for a month in most sports for PEDs or failed drug tests for voluntarily doing damage to your organs, but only 5 games or so for possibly causing long-term damage to someone else's brain, memory, motor skills, etc? You can help damaged kidneys, there's no such reprieve for becoming a vegetable. You can't get a brain transplant, the story of your life pretty much ends whenever those symptoms begin. Hockey also needs to be ashamed of those tin can helmets. I've seen costume viking helmets that would offer more protection.

And it's a minor complaint really, but that article can't decide whether it's a pun-laden cracked.com-esque article or a true piece on a ridiculously serious issue. When the subject matter is this serious, I think the jokes are better left for another time, considering half the problem with the concussion crisis is people not taking it as seriously as they should.

The worst part about hockey is that so often, teams retaliate to a CLEAN hit on a goon or star, with an illegal hit or a fight. It's not necessary at all, and you could have a guy get injured because he made a GOOD, legal play and someone else's ego couldn't take it sitting down. It's a real classless part of the sport, and I'd enjoy watching a lot more if those types of plays went extinct.
