Childress interviewing today and Marty Schottenheimer interviewing tomorrow.

I think Marty may become the front-runner after his interview.

Both Dick Vermeil and Marv Levy coached at this age, so it can be done. Especially since Marty's been out of the game for a decent amount of time, he should have the energy to give this a three or four year run.

I don't think Marty-ball is going to work in this new era of the NFL. Would have loved the hire about 6 years ago though. And why are they interviewing guys like Sherman and Childress? Are they looking for a new coach to go with their new vision for the team? A 2nd rate coach for a 2nd rate team under 3rd rate ownership? Sounds promising.

Honestly, I don't see this as a long-term hire. I see this as more of a transition period. This team is young and has no discipline. They need an attitude adjustment and I think that looking at guys like Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Sherman and Brad Childress exhibits that.

Don't get me wrong, you want the results, but, you want these guys to learn how to be professional. How to handle themselves with fans, media and in the local community. This is more about setting a new direction/course for the franchise. The whole environment needs to change.

Should have kept Rah. These coaching candidates are laughable. A 69 y/o Shottenheimer being the best candidate is ridiculous. Get Billick!

Shit, if you don't want Marty, i'd gladly take him. Your team will play hard every week, and make the playoffs every year. I think his playoff "failures" are overblown. Some of those games had odd circumstances, it's not like his teams didn't show up.

My issue is with him being 69 not with him being a good head coach.

Why? Billick could never develop a quarterback and relied on defenses headed up by Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan and Rex Ryan. Even when they went out and brought in a veteran quarterback- Elvis Grbac and Steve McNair- Billick still couldn't win the big one.

I would rather bring in a bright offensive mind who could do something with Freeman than a guy who had tools but never put together a truly great offensive in Baltimore (and the guy was regarded as an offensive guru as well.)

EDIT: Your issue with him being 69 is also a bit overblown. Both Vermeil and Levy had success at this age, so it isn't possible. My concern is actually the amount of time he's been away from the game, but I'm confident he can put together a staff that can make up for it.

Bucs reportedly came away "very impressed" with Marty Schottenheimer. LeRoy Butler was on local radio this morning singing Mike Sherman's praises as well.

Right now, this team needs a man that can lead 53 guys in the right direction. Someone who can change the whole attitude and environment around One Buc Place. The level of disorganization under Raheem was unbelieveable.

The organization needs someone who can build a solid foundation. Out of all the current candidates, my top choice would be Marty Schottenheimer. Mike Sherman would probably be my #2. I like Wade Phillips as well, his career win percentage is great, just has a poor playoff record. Problem with Phillips is he is not as much of a disciplinarian as Marty or Sherman.
