    Not too surprising.

A bit of a scapegoat move by the Bears. I'm sure the resignation was some what forced.

As @danpompei reported, Mike Martz resigns from Bears over philosophical differences. His contract was up and this was expected.

Yeah, I'm not sure Gabbert likes to even be breathed on let alone shellacked by defensive players in a Mike Martz offensive scheme.

Jacksonville will certainly look into Martz, but his offensive system needs to be established from the ground up, and that brings up the dreaded r-word: rebuild. You need to give him time to get players who fit his system. It will take a year, probably two.

We've seen Martz go to other teams as a coordinator and flop- you can't just have him fill in and half-ass the offense. Give him time to get it right, or you just waste everyones time.

                        No we haven't.

Rams, Lions and 49ers offenses all improved dramatically, and the results were immediate.

Bears were one win from the SB, and looking good this year until the QB and RB got hurt.

I suspect that wherever Martz goes, he will once again improve the offense overnight, and after the first loss goofy fans and Tom Jackson will say "der, he doesnt run the ball, herp derp sacks!"

                              Makes no sense.

Fact: Martz has the highest winning percentage of any head coach in history who didn't voluntarily retire who has never gotten another job.

Yet dolts like Romeo Crennel, Wade Phillips, Norv Turner, Dave Wannstedt, Chan Gailey, etc etc keep getting recycled.
