Winston Moss is going to make a fantastic head coach when he finally gets his chance.

I'm sure to Reggie, he will, as long as he's black.
I'm just saying.....
Seems like Reggie may be a prime suspect for the creation of a new "Reverse Rooney Rule." The couple coaches I have heard being floated so far are all black. Don't sit here for a second and tell me that's a coincidence.
BTW, Where the fuck are all the Native Americans, Asians, Hispanics?? Seems they get the shortest straw here.Comment

I think Darren Perry and Winston Moss are good candidates and I don't think Reggie is favoring blacks or is racist in the least bit. This isn't 1992. Dennis Green isn't receiving kkk letters anymore.Comment

I think the rooney rule should be gotten rid of. It was really nice for awhile but it seems unneeded now imo.

First, he has worked his way up in the coaching ranks. He, much like Jim Harbaugh, is a former player that began coaching as a QC coach.
He has been surrounded by quality organizations and coaches who have helped develop him. As he has taken on responsibility, he has succeeded. Mike McCarthy made him Asst HC of the Packers and he has had a number of opportunities to act in a HC capacity with the Packers. As a former player, his current players speak very highly of him. Through his coaching stints, he has learned how to properly develop and implement practice schedules, game plans, planning for bye weeks, off-season training programs, etc.
He isn't someone who will just be thrown into a position. Winston Moss is actually someone I hoped would get an interview with the Bucs. It was thought, early on, that he would. I still think he would make an excellent candidate here in Tampa.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

Wyche's colleague Jason LaCanfora agrees, suggesting there's "heavy expectation" that Moss will take over in Oakland, bringing along secondary coach Darren Perry as defensive coordinator.Comment

Not a huge Michael Silver fan, but here are some excerpts from his article and the link to it. Pretty interesting if true.......I will leave that to you Oakland fans to determine.
Back in the spring of 2008, when he was very much in charge of the Oakland Raiders’ singularly peculiar organization, Al Davis presided over a predraft meeting at the team’s Alameda, Calif., training facility. As coaches and personnel officials discussed what to do with the fourth overall pick, which the team would ultimately use to select Arkansas halfback Darren McFadden, the Hall of Fame owner’s son, Mark, casually drifted into the room.
“Mark,” Davis said, stopping the meeting and sounding genuinely interested. “What do you think we should do?”
Caught off guard, the younger Davis mumbled something about needing a wide receiver.
Wrong answer.
“A [expletive] receiver?” Al Davis snapped, his voice rising. “Get the [expletive] out of here.”
And with that, the heir to one of the NFL’s most storied franchises slinked out of the room and continued with the rest of his day.
I cite this incident not to illustrate that Al Davis had a mean streak and did not suffer fools gladly, even when the fool in question was his only child. Nor is it necessary as a means of proving that Mark Davis doesn’t know much about personnel – he essentially admitted that Tuesday at the news conference announcing the hiring of general manager Reggie McKenzie (a potentially sound move) and the firing of head coach Hue Jackson (an astonishingly dumb one).
No, the reason I share this story – which was related to me by a former member of the Raiders’ coaching staff who witnessed it – is to explain why I think the younger Davis made a coaching change after Jackson’s promising, 8-8 rookie season: To project an image of authority, Mark Davis needs to surround himself with employees who didn’t see him routinely disparaged and condescended to by his legendary father.Jackson likes to reference his conversations with the late owner too much for some people’s tastes, but the fact is he was being groomed to be a powerful head coach who understood the Raider Way. In that sense, he was being treated more like an heir than Mark Davis was – think Maximus and Commodus in “Gladiator” – another understandable source of tension and insecurity for the man on the wrong end of that equation.
For that reason, more than one person familiar with the late owner’s mindset told me Tuesday that, as Mark Davis sat at the podium and discussed Jackson’s dismissal, “Al was rolling over in his grave.”Comment

I think the reason Hue was fired was more because of the reasons that have been publicly stated. The Raiders first draft pick will be in the 5th round. We traded a 3rd round pick for a guy who now looks like he'll never play at all. A first and second for Palmer which would've been acceptable had the Raiders made the playoffs but they didn't and Hue took a very condescending attitude towards the team with his "this team needs an attitude adjustment" speech. I think the power Hue was granted when Al Davis died started going to his head. I think with Reggie McKenzie leading things we'll have a much more stable foundation. Maybe we won't have as explosive an offense because Hue was a pretty good playcaller and offensive coordinator but I think all in all the move will pay off.Comment
