Yes.
But keeping acting like a clown about it.
We get it. You are against child rape and would have gone right to the cops. Your judgement of Joe Pa on the issue is noted.
Oh quit. No one in here is being that big of a meathead. I've never excused his actions because he won X amount of football games. Just quit with the strawman bullshit.
You're pissed off because of some idiot people on facebook or twitter. Fine.
I've never excused what Joe Pa did. Best we can tell he made an awful judgement on a serious issue. That doesn't cancel out all the other good he did for thousands of players he had at Penn St, the hundreds of thousands that went to Penn St, the families of the people that were connected at Penn St etc.
The Sandusky thing is/was awful and I'm sure it will become more and more clear as the court proceedings move forward. I refuse to sit here and gloat about the guys death, label him as a horrible person, or excuse his bad actions.
Joe Pa obviously did a ton of good in his life and the recent actions don't whitewash that out or cancel it out IMO. Paterno should have done more, we know. But I'm not going to go and act as though he was complicit with child rape. I'll save my outrage for Sandusky.

Sorry but you're wrong and that's just idiotic.Comment

How does the saying go? "A man's true character is revealed in how he faces adversity?" Paterno faced adversity and chose to hide from it. He's a coward, and helped ruin lives.
To not act in that situation, when you have the amount of power he had, is inexcusable. Nothing can make up for that.Comment

This guy went from maybe the greatest legacy in college football to the scourge of the earth, fired, and has a tarnished legacy and dead within 3 months.
Worst three months ever.Comment

Lol I took that really extreme stance and I'm against child rape... You got it FT.Comment

Beyond all that fucked up news thats come thru, hes done some great things in life and is still going to go down as a legend. Shame his legacy was tarnished by the scandal tho, and really his own foolishness.
R.I.P. to that man regardless.Comment

What about the people who have to put their lives back together after losing their innocence?Comment

"Integrity is measured not by what is done in the light, but in the dark." Publicly, he may have been a great person, but he had no integrity at all when it came time to actually use it. His values and morals would have gotten in the way of protecting his brand, so he chose to ignore them. So yeah.Comment

Are you kidding me? How about a shame the rape happened in the first place. Or that those boys and more had to continue going through this tragedy as nothing was done. Joe Paterno brought this upon himself. He deserves everything that has happened.Comment

Paterno reported what he had heard. Did he do enough? No. There's a whole thread on that and I'm not going to revisit it.
To say Paterno did nothing is inaccurate an frankly lame and just piling on.
Just keep putting up starwmen around here because people on facebook or twitter are acting foolish on the exact opposite viewpoint you're holding.Comment

What is with the famous quotes in this thread?
And I have to agree with FT to a point...I highly doubt the "disgusted" people are as disgusted as they're acting. But hey, it's America so we all have to have some extreme stance I guess.Comment

Yep, because I'm sure Paterno never faced any other adversity in his life ever during his 85 years of life and always responded horribly to it if it arose.
