Taking a "wait and see approach" doesn't equate to questioning his intelligence because of the system he played in or because of a Wonderlic score. A "wait and see" approach would mean that said person was going to refrain from comment (opinion) until seeing how everything plays out.Comment

It's not a race card, but instead a fact of reality. People questioned Newton's intelligence primarily because he was black whether they realize it or not. Sometimes prejudice becomes congenital, so it isn't realized. There have been other QB's that have had less than stellar Wonderlic scores and/or that came from running a spread offense and didn't have their intelligence questioned. For the most part the intelligence question has been brought up with every black QB to ever play the game.

:lolsu:
Questioning someone's football IQ and general intelligence are two different things BTW too.Comment

And what fact of reality is it when people question Tebow? It sure as fuck is the race card when questioning a QB is off limits just because they are black.
His ability to read complex defenses and complex offenses being questioned does equate to a wait and see approach. Questioning isn't stating he can't or will never be able to. It's just questioning how well he will or won't be able to until he actually does. Get the fuck out of here with your "don't even realize your prejudice bullshit".Comment

Tony Romo (Cowboys): Wildly underrated, mostly based on overblown "clutch" questions, Romo just finished a season with 31 TD passes against 10 interceptions. He was behind only Rodgers, Brees and Brady from a statistical standpoint, while playing dinged up. Want to know where Romo stands? Just ask fellow quarterbacks.Comment

It's not worth getting mad about, I'm just enjoying Newton making all his doubters look foolish (so far).Comment

Pretty fucked up how Kyle Orton went from being a top 5 QB, to ranked below Mark Sanchez.
Dilfer's top 10 from 2 years ago:
1. Peyton Manning
2. Drew Brees
3. Eli Manning
4. Brett Favre
5. Kyle Orton
6. Aaron Rodgers
7. Ben Roethlisberger
8. Joe Flacco
9. Tom Brady
10. Carson Palmer
Orton ahead of Brady?

I just wondered how well he would do trying to learn an NFL offense and NFL defenses. I wonder the same thing about Tim Tebow.
I also didn't care much for Newton as a person when I heard he was caught stealing computers from fellow college students. But none of that has anything to do with race, no-matter how much ralaw wants it to.Comment

Bucky, I held off on addressing your earlier response, because it was just gibberish to me and really didn't warrant a response.
Why are you taking so much offense to what I said? I never mentioned your name in my original comment. Do you think every single person that I heard mention it was just forming an opinion based on purely football? I didn't feel the need to specifially name individual people with my original post, as I was just making a general statement. If you believe you formed your opinion free of racial bias than good for you; however, this doesn't change the history or the fact that others do.
On the computer thing......do you really hold on to that? He made a mistake, some of you act like these guys need to be perfect saints throughout their entire life to be worthy of your praise. Geesh. I can see if he stole a laptop from you or something, but dang.Comment

So many things I want to say right now.. but due to new forum policy I will not.So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

After cooling off a little "I" thought I was a little over the top.
I'm sure there is some truth to your original post.Comment
